Chapter 1 13 Indicators The computer has several easy -to-read status indicators. The front panel indicators are visible even when the compute r cover is closed up. Note: 1. Charging: The light shows amber when the battery is charging. 2. Fully charged: The light shows green when in AC mode.

Chapter 2 47 BIOS Setup Utility The BIOS Setup Utility is a hardware configuration prog ram built into your computer ’s BIOS (Basic Input/Output System). Y our computer is already properly configured and optimize d, and you do not need to run this utility .

Locate the three antenna w ires (colored white, gray , and black) on the right-hand side of the HDD bay . 2. Usi ng fine tweezers, grip the white wire and pull upward until it is released from the board.
68 Chapter 3 Removing the Switch Cover CAUTION: Using tools to remove the Switch Cover ma y cause damage to the outer casing. It is recommended that only fingers are us ed to remove the Switch Cover . 1. Locate and remove the four securing screws as shown.

T urn the keyboard over , as shown, to expose the cables. 4. Using fine tweezers, release the first cable lock as shown and remove the ca ble from the socket.

Chapter 3 71 Removing the Antenna Cables 1. T urn the computer over . Remo ve the Antenna Ca bles from the three securing pins as shown. 2. T urn the computer over . Locate the socket as ind icated. 3. Using fine tweezers, disconnect th e ca ble as shown.
72 Chapter 3 4. Pull the black MIC cable through the mainboard. Note: This cable is not attached to the LCM Module. Move the cable out of the work area to avoid damage. 5. Pull the white and gray cables th rough the mainboard. 6. Remove the two gray cables and the white cable from the securing pin s as shown.
Chapter 3 73 Removing the LCM Module CAUTION: Ensure all cables are removed from securi ng pins before proceeding to avoid damag e. 1. Locate and remove the four screws as shown. Note: The earth wire is disconnected when the screws are removed. 2. L ocate and remove the two screws from the rear of the computer as shown.

Using both hands, remove the casing and T ouchPad as shown. 1. Locate the two screws (red markers) and two connectors (yello w markers) as shown.

78 Chapter 3 LCM Module Disassembly Procedure Removing the LCM Bezel CAUTION: When using tools, be careful not to scratch the computer casing. 1. Locate and remove the four myl ar (small red markers) and two rubber (large red markers) screw covers as shown.
Chapter 3 79 Removing the LCD Panel 1. Locate and remove the six screws as shown. 2. Locate the three panel connectors as sh own. Disconnect the cables as sh own.
80 Chapter 3 4. Locate and remove the Inverter Board screw as shown. 5. Grip the Inve rter Board and lift upward to remove. 6. Grip the WebCam Module and lift upward to remove. 7. T urn the LCD panel over to expose the rear . Grip the LCM cable and lift upward to detach the adhesive pad s.
Chapter 3 81 9. Locate and remove the four screws (two on each side) securing the LCD brackets to the LCD panel. 10. Remove the LCD brackets by pulling away from the LCD Panel as shown.
82 Chapter 3 LCM Module Reassembly Procedure Replacing the LCD Panel 1. Align the LCD brackets with the four screw holes (two on each side) on the LCD Panel as shown. 2. Secure the LCD b rackets to the LCD panel. 3. T urn the panel over . Insert the cable into the cable conn ector on the LCD Pa nel as shown.

Locate the bezel correctly and press down the edges until there are no gaps between the bezel and th e LCM Module, 2. Secure the six screws provided and replac e the mylar (small red markers) and rubber screw caps (large red markers).

86 Chapter 3 Replacing the Mainboard CAUTION: Ensure that the VGA Port Cover is open before beginning. Failure to do so may result in damage to the Mainboard. 5. T urn the Mainboard over and secure the two screws as shown. 1. Ensure that the Mainb oard is fa ce up (the Fan Modu le and CPU are no t visible).

Note: Ensure that the T ouchPad cable is acce ss ible once the T ouchPad is in place. 2. Using tweezers, grip the T ouchPad cable and insert it into the connec tor on the Motherboard as sho wn.
Chapter 3 89 Replacing the Antenna Cables 3. Secure the two screws at the rear of the computer as shown and th e four screws to hold the LCM in place on the chassis.
90 Chapter 3 3. Using tweezers, secure the rema ining gray cabl e with the connector to the port on the Mainboard. 4. T urn the computer over . Place the three cables fr om the LCM Module in the wiring conduit and secure in place using the cab le pins on the ch assis.
Chapter 3 91 Replacing the Switch Board Replacing the Keyboard 1. Place the Switch Board in th e mo un ti n g a s sho wn. 2. Insert the cable into the port and secure the locking latch using fine tw eezers. 3. Secure the Switch Board in place using the screw provide d.
92 Chapter 3 2. Using fine tw eezers, insert the remaining cable in to the socket and secure the locki ng latch as shown . 3. T urn the keyboard over and place the front edge first into the mounting. 4. Push the Keyboard into place toward the T ouchPad and secure usi ng the two screws provided.
Chapter 3 93 Replacing the Switch Cover Replacing the W ireless Card 1. Place the Switch Cover as shown and press down until no gaps are visible between the cover and th e chassis. 2. Close the LCM Mod ule and turn the computer ov e r . Locate and repla ce the four screws as shown.
94 Chapter 3 Replacing the Memory Modules 3. Reconnect the th ree Antenna Cables as shown, pushing down firmly to connect the cables. Cable Color Connector Number Black 1 White 2 Gray 3 1. Using two hands, push the lower module into the socket until it clicks into place.
Chapter 3 95 Replacing the BTCB Screws Replacing the HDD Replacing the ODD 1. Locate and secure the twenty (20) BTCB screws as shown. 1. Place the HDD in the mounting , rear edge first as shown. 2. Push down firmly into the mo unting to secure the HDD.
96 Chapter 3 Replacing the CT O Cover Replacing the Battery Pack 1. Place the CTO Cover rear edge first on to the chassis as shown. 2. Push down fully until no gaps are visible be tween the CTO Cover and the chassis. 3. Secure the CTO Cover using the seven screws provided.
