4 USERS INSTRUCTIONS The fo llowing instru ctions are de signed for the user of t he water heater. The u ser may not install or adjust t he applia nce in an y way th at requires the remov al of the fr ont of the u nit. 5 Congrat ulations on pu rchasing the Tech nologi cally Advanc ed, Temper ature Contro lled, Rinnai Hot W ater Sy stem. x The Rinnai Infinity 16i w ill NEVER RUN OUT of hot wa ter. As long as electricity , water, and gas sup p lies are conn ected, hot water is availa ble when hot water taps are open.
6 Excessively hot wate r is dang erous, especially for young c hildren an d the infirm . The water hea ter allows you to co ntrol the t emperature of your hot water to safe levels . Do stay with children whenever they are in the bathroom. Do take the m out of the bathroom i f you need to answer th e phone or door.
7 IMPORT ANT INFORMA TION Always chec k water temperatu re before use. Ref er to warn ing about h ot water on page 16 for important safety information. Hot water may go cold wi thout warni ng at very low wate r flows (less t han 3 l/min.) The Infinity 16i co ntrols th e water tem- peratu re automaticall y .

9 TEMPERA TURE CONTROLS The pur pose of a T em perature Co ntroller is to enable the user to have complet e control over the hot water supply. Used c o rrectly , the Infinity will supply hot water at th e tempera ture selected, even when the water flow is v aried, or whe n more than o ne tap is used.
10 Remote tempe rature controll ers are a featu re that provide s control over th e water temperatu r e. The Rinnai I n finity 16i water heater can be operated with 1, 2, or 3 temperatu r e con trollers. The c ontroller MC- 45-SR-EU co mes as standard with this water he ater insta lled into t he front panel.
11 TEMPERA TURE CONTROLS - OPERA TING Using the T emperature Controller s. Press the ON/OFF bu tton on a te mperature controller. The s ystem will be come ac tive, the te mperatur e will default t o 40 0 C and the contr oller th at turned the system on will hav e priority.
12 Using 2 or more T emperature Con trollers. Switching the system ON. . The hot wa ter system and a ll controllers can be switched ON and OFF f rom any cont roller by pre ssing the ON/OFF button as shown. W he n the system is turned O N the water tem perature display will be lit.

15 CARING FOR THE INFINITY Maintenance Even if th ere does no t seem to be a problem with the water h eater it is required in t he UK that all ga s appliances are serviced every year by a certified g as engine er. This is to ensure continue d safety of the gas a ppliance.
16 ERROR MESSAGES Rinnai water heat ers have the ability to che ck their own op eration conti n uously . If a fault occurs, an error code will flash on the Digital Display if you have temperature controllers installed. This as sists with diagnosin g the fault, and m ay enable you to over come a proble m witho ut a service call.

18 REST ARTING THE RINNAI W A TER HEA TER Follow ing a po w er cu t the heaters should be restarted in this manner. St andard system. Singl e or mu ltiple wate r heaters w ithout remo te cont rollers . The heaters will automatically rese t without any us er involvement.

22 HOT W ATER SUPPLY OPERATION Ignition Press ON /OFF Butto n of Remote Cont roller t o turn on uni t and the re mote c ontrol- ler display and priority LED will light up. When a hot w ater tap is opened the Wa ter Fl ow Sens or revo lves and se nds a pulse signal to the Printed Circuit Board (PCB.
23 MAIN COMPONENTS 1. Gas Control Unit 1.1 Modulating Valve This device is used by t he PCB to adjust the volume o f gas to the burner in proportion to the volumetric flow rate of water in order to maint ain a supply of constant temperature hot w at er amid changes in water flow rates and in c oming temperatures.
24 3. Thermal Fuse The t hermal fuse is an el ectric link w hich must be i ntact for the u nit to ope rate. If the thermal fuse reaches a set t emperature it will mel t and the unit will shut down.
25 A p plian ce Location. The wall o r structure on which it is mounted must be capable of supporting the weight of the ap pliance (15 k g) and ass ociated pi pework. En sure that suitab le scre ws or bolts are used to secure the water heater t o the wall.
