As long as electricity, wat er, and gas sup plies are connecte d, hot wate r is availabl e when hot water taps are open.
14 Excessively hot water is dangerous, especially for young c hildren and t he infirm . The water heate r allows y ou to control the t emperature of your hot water to saf e levels. Do stay with childr en whe never they a re i n the bathr oom. Do take them o ut of the b athroom if you need to answer the phone or door.
15 IMPORT ANT INFORMA TION Alwa ys che ck water tempera ture befo re use. Refer to warni ng about hot water on page 14 f or impo rtant safe ty info rmation. Hot water may go out without wa rning at low water flows. The Infini ty 26i and HD50 i control the water tempera ture automatic ally.
16 Rinnai Infinity and HD products hav e no pilot light and wh en install ed without Temperature Co ntrollers, the appliance will operate aut omatically as s oon as a hot wa ter tap i s opene d. The burne r ignites wi th elect ronic igniti on and t he flame exting uishes as soon as w ater flowing through the appliance stops.

20 TEMPERA TURE CONTROLS The purpose of a Te mperature Cont roller is to e nable the us er to hav e complete c ontrol over the hot water su pply. Used cor rectly, the hot water u nit will supply hot wat er at the temper ature sel ected, even when the wa ter flow is varied, or when more than on e tap is used.
21 Remote temperatur e controllers a re a feature t hat provides cont rol over the water temperatu re. Rinnai I nfinity and HD water h eaters can b e operate d with 1, 2, 3, 4 or no temperature con trollers. The Universal cont roller MC-91-1A comes as sta ndard with all Infinity water heaters, and are opti onal for the HD rang e.
22 TEMPERA TURE CONTROLS - OPERA TING Using 1 Universal T emperature Controller . Press the On/O ff but ton on the tem perat ure contr oller. The ON indicato r will glow on the Temperature Controller. This in dicates th at the he ater is re ady t o supply hot wate r when a tap is opened.
23 Using 2 or more Uni v ersal T emperature Control lers. Switching the sy stem ON. Using hot water. Bath room te m pera tures shou ld be no more th an 50 0 C. The ho t water syst em and all controllers can be switched ON and OFF f rom any cont roller by pressin g the On/Of f butt on as shown .
24 Using 4 Universal T emperature Controllers. You will need to activate the fo urth controller. 25 Using High T em p erature Display Controller s. You will need to program th e Master cont roller if yo u want to dis play and us e temperatures over 50 0 C.
26 Note T o turn off your hot w ater system. Additional safety features. During normal operati on t he system is left on. To turn the system off simply press the On/O ff button on any t emperature controller (wher e fitted). This will shut the w ater heate r down comple tely incl uding the te mpera ture contr oller digital display .
27 TEMPERA TURE CONTROLS - INFORMA TION Do not push the On/O ff button on the Master cont roller after transf erring prio rity of tem perat ure s elec tion t o a Sec onda ry controller as the syste m will shut down.
28 TESTING 1. Purge gas, hot w ater and cold w ater sup ply lines before making t he final connectio n of the water heater. Swarf in either the gas or w ater supplies may cause da mage. 2. Turn on gas a nd co ld water s upplie s. 3. Test for water leaks a nd gas es capes near t he unit.
29 GAS PRESSURE SETTING The wo rking gas pr essure on the water h eater is electr onicall y c ontro lled and facto ry set. Under nor mal ci rcum stanc es it does not re quire adjustment during insta llation.
