Operation 16 1 E Make sure that the paper feed side plates are touching both sides of the pape r, and then pu sh the lock lever for the side p lates down to lock the side p lates into posi tion. Operation 18 1 Entering a User Code to Use the Machine If user codes are turne d on, operators must enter their use r code before they can use the machin e. The ma chine keeps count of the number of copies made under e ach user code. Note ❒ If you wa nt to us e this feat ure, you must turn it on and re gister the user codes with the user tools.

The relationship be- tween printing speed and print quali- ty depends on the t ype of paper you use. Operation 28 1 Reducing and Enlarging Using Preset Ratios Use this functi on to ha ve origi nals re- duced or enlarged by a preset ratio. A tota l of 7 r atio s are a vaila ble (3 en- largement ratios, 4 reduction ratios). Note ❒ The leading edge of the print im- age does not shift when a prin t im- age is made with this fu nction.

Security Mode 73 1 Security Mode This funct ion prev ents other s from making prints of confidential docu- ments from the master. For example, if you want to print some document s with sensitive information, use this function after making your prints so that nobody can access that master again.
Operation 74 1 Quality Start Mode If the machine is not u sed f or a lo ng period of tim e or you chang e the color drum unit, the ink on the dr um m ight dry causing prin t quality to deterio- rate. To solve this problem, you can ha ve t he m ach in e ca rry ou t a fe w id le spins of the dru m before a print run.
