Connections and Setup 5 Explanation of Jacks and Cables There ar e several wa ys to connect your D VD Play er to your TV depending upon the cables you ha ve and the jacks that ar e on the back of your TV . Different jacks and cables pr ovide a different lev el of performance.

Connections and Setup 9 Connection: D VD + TV + VCR 1. Connect the audio cables to the AUDIO OUT L (left – white) and R (right – red) jacks on the back of your D VD Play er , and to the corresponding Audio Input jacks on your TV (sometimes labeled AUDIO IN L and R).

If you want the D VD play er’ s menus to appear in English, press the OK button on the remote contr ol. 13 Button description for TV and VCR function buttons This remote operates most TVs and VCRs that carry the RC A, GE, or Proscan brand. The f ollowing list (in alphabetical or der) pro vides basic information about how these buttons will operate when in TV or VCR mode .

15 Fr eeze F rame and Frame Advance While a disc is pla ying, press P AUSE to freeze the pictur e . T o advance one frame at a time , press PA USE again (the on-screen icon changes fr om PA USE to FRAME ). Each time you press the FOR W ARD or REVERSE button, the picture g oes to the next (or pre vious) frame.
Using the On-Screen Inf o Display The Info Displa y appears across the top of the scr een when you pr ess the INFO button on the r emote while y ou’ re pla ying a disc .
17 Ho w to Navigate the Inf o Display To access the Info Displa y , press the INFO button on the r emote while y ou’ re pla ying a disc . Use the and arrow buttons on the r emote to highlight different icons. Once an icon is highlighted, f ollow the on-scr een instructions, and use the or buttons to scroll thr ough options.
18 Subtitles Icon (D VD Info Displa y) By default, subtitles are off. T o turn subtitles on: 1. While a disc is pla ying, press INFO (the Info Displa y appears).
19 Pla y Mode Icon (D VD , CD Info Displa ys) The Pla y Mode options available depend upon the type of disc you’ re pla ying. The default play mode (standar d pla y) plays the disc’ s contents in the order in which the disc was cr eated (i.e., track 1 pla ys first, followed by track 2, etc .
20 AB Repeat AB Repeat lets you define a specific segment on the disc that y ou want to repeat. T o watch a scene over and o ver : 1. With the Pla y Mode icon highlighted in the Info Display , press the or buttons until Repeat Mode: AB. Press OK to set A point a ppears at the bottom of the Info Displa y .
Bookmark Icon (D VD Info Displa y) The Bookmark feature lets y ou mark a point on the disc so that when you turn the pla yer off and back on (without having ejected the disc), you can quickly start pla ying the disc from a bookmark ed point. Pla ying Discs Creating a Bookmark 1.
Pla ying mp3 and WMA music files and displa ying JPEG files mp3 is an audio file format which compresses r ecorded music. It was dev eloped by Fraunhofer Gesellschaft in collaboration with Thomson Inc.
Note: while listening you can use the or button to go back to the previous track or go on to the next one and press the MENU button to display the disc’s contents.
24 Pla ying JPEG and mp3 music files at the same time Y ou can display JPEG files while listening to mp3 music files r ecorded on the same disc . It is not possible to pla y JPEG and WMA music files at the same time. 1. Insert the disc containing the two types of file in the pla yer .
25 The Pla y Menu The Play menu doesn’t ha ve submenus or options lik e the other main menu options. Instead the status changes: if y ou’ re pla ying a disc and access the main menu, the menu a ppears as Resume Play ; if you ha ven’ t star ted pla ying the disc, the title of the disc appears next to the Play menu.

28 Unlocking your D VD Pla yer 1. If you’ re pla ying a disc, press ST OP (the DVD Pla yer’ s main menu appears). 2. Press the button until Pa r ental Control is highlighted, and press OK (the Enter P assword screen appears). 3. Use the number buttons to enter the passw ord you created, and press OK (the Pa r ental Control men u items appear).
Password Required 29 To set Ratings for Rated Titles: The Rating Limits menu enables you to block discs that contain movies with a rating assigned to them (R, PG-13, PG, G, etc.) from being pla yed unless you enter the passwor d you created in the P assword menu.
30 TV Imag e The TV Image menu adjusts the wa y a movie appears on y our TV . Standard TVs are 4 x 3 format. Depending on the type of television y ou ha ve, you ma y want to adjust the screen setting (also called the aspect ratio). 1. With the pla yer on (no disc pla ying), press MENU (the main menu appears).
31 16 x 9 Widescreen – Choose this setting if your D VD Pla yer is connected to a wide-screen TV . If you choose this setting and you don’ t hav e a widescreen TV , the images on the screen might appear distorted due to ver tical compression.
32 The Languag es Menu The Languages menu enables you to set pr eferr ed language options for : • Player Menus (the D VD Pla yer’ s menu system) • Disc Menus • Audio (the dialogue of D VD titles) • Subtitles The wa y you choose languages is the same for each of the Languages submenus.
