Important Information 5 ringer operation is impaired, remove a device from the line. In the unlikely event that your ph one causes problems on the phone line, the phone company can temporarily discon tinue your service. If this happens, the phone company attempts to notify you in advance.

Important Caller ID Information 7 IMPORTANT CALLER ID INFORMATION To use Caller ID and Call Wai ting, you must be in an area wher e those services are available and you must subscribe to those services through your local phone company.
Installation 8 INSTALLATION Before using your phone, carefully peel the protective film off t he display. The film protects the handset window during shipment and is not necessary for use. S ELECTING A L OCATIO N You can place the phone’s base on a desk or table, or mount it o n a standard wall plate or directly on a wall.
Installation 9 O N A D ESK T OP 1. Plug one end of the supplied long modular cord into the TEL LINE jac k on the back of the base. 2. Inser t the suppli ed A C adapter’ s barrel plug into the DC IN 9V jack on the back of the base and route the adapter’ s cord through the strain relief slot on the base.
Installation 10 2. Plug one end of the supplie d modular cord (short f or a wall plate , long fo r direct wall mounting) into the TEL LINE jack on the base’ s back. 3. Plug the supplied AC adapter's barrel plug into the DC IN 9V jack. 4. Route the adapter and modular cords through the brack et’ s groo ves .
Installation 11 1. Press down and slide off the ba tter y compar tment cover . 2. Lift the batter y pack out of the compar tment. 3. Plug the batter y pa ck’ s connecto r into the sock et in the comp ar tment (the connector fits only one way). Then place the ba ttery pack in the compar tment.
Installation 12 The supplied battery pack should last about a year. If the battery pack does not hold a charge for more than two hours after an overnig ht charge, replace i t with a ne w 3.6V, 600 mAh battery pack with a connector that fits the socket in the battery compartment.

Operation 14 A DJUSTING THE H ANDSET R INGER AND E ARPIECE V OLUME Handset Ringer Tone and Volume Press the volume up key or volume down key (labeled as, VO L or VO L keys) in standby mode to select one of five ringer tones and volume combinations. Ring Type A High , Ring Type A Low , Ring Type B High , Ring Type B Low , or Ringer Off .
Operation 15 T ONE D IALING S WITCH - OVER Some telephone companies use equi pment that requires pulse dialing (sometimes referred to as rotary dialing). If you need to enter tone dialing di gits, you can switch-over to tone dialing during the call. For example, entering your bank account number after you have called your bank.
Operation 16 P AGE To locate the handset (while it’s off the base), press PA G E on the ba se. The handset beeps for 60 seconds. Paging is canceled when pressing any handset ke y or the handset is returned to the base.
Operation 17 S ETTING M ENU O PTIONS There are five setup options available. They are Auto Talk, CIDCW (Caller ID on Call Waiting), Area Code, Dial Mode and Language.
Operation 18 1. When the phone is in the standby mode, press and hold CID . The Caller ID setting screen appears. 2. Press VOL k ey twice to select ¨ Area Code ¨. 3. Press SELECT . 4. Use the number ke ys ( 0 - 9 ), or CH/ DELETE to enter the three-digit area code.
Memory Dialing 19 • If you are not sure of y our dialing system, set f or tone dialing. Mak e a trial call. If the call connects, leav e the setting as is, otherwise set fo r pulse dialing.

Memory Dialing 21 • Use P A USE/REDIAL to e nter a pause in the dialing sequence. The display shows a ¨ P ¨. Each pause counts as one digit and rep resents a two second delay of time between the digits. Ô • Use CH/DELETE to delete digits as needed.

Memory Dialing 23 M AKING C ALLS WITH M EMORY D IALING Memory Dialing from Standby Mode 1. Press MEM . The handset displays y our programmed memor y locations. 2. Press VO L or VO L keys , or enter the number ( 0 - 9 ) to select the memory location you would lik e to dial.
Memory Dialing 24 An example of this is a bank account number. Once you ha ve called your bank, and are prompted to enter the account number, press MEM and select the location number where the special number has been stored. Then press SELECT . Store your special number with an identifying name.
Memory Dialing 25 6. Press MEM or SELECT . Th e cursor flashes indicating that the display is ready f or the number to be edited. 7. Use the number ke y , /T ONE/< , #/> , P AUSE/REDIAL or CH /DELETE to edit the phone number . The phone number cannot exceed 20 digits.

Caller ID 28 CALLER ID You must subscribe to Caller ID service to use this feature. When the telephon e rings, the Caller ID feature allows you to vi ew the call er´s name and phone numbe r on the displa y before you answer the phone. The handset displays the phone number of the incomin g call, the name, and time.

Additional Information 32 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I NSTALLING THE B ELTCLIP To attach the be ltclip Insert the beltclip into the holes on each side of the handset. Press down until it clicks. To remove the beltclip Pull both sides of the beltclip to release the tabs from the holes.
Troubleshooting 33 TROUBLESHOOTING If your phone is not performing to your expectations, please try these simple steps first Problem Solution The CHARGE/IN USE indicator won’t illuminate when the handset is placed on the base. • Make sure the A C adapter is plugged into the base and wall outlet.
