Do not operate your new power chair for the first time wi thout completely reading and understanding this owner’s manual. Keep in mind that the maximum weight capacity includes the combined wei ght of the user and any accessories mounted to the power chair.

Do not attempt to negotiate o bstacles with the seat in a reclined position unless an at tendant is present to help stab ilize the chair.
12 www.pridemobility.com Quantum 600 Series Public Streets and Roadways WARNING! You should not operate your power chair on public streets and ro adways. Be aware that it may be difficult for traf fic to see you when you are seated on your power chair.

14 www.pridemobility.com Quantum 600 Series Motor Vehicle Transport Pride recommends that you do not remain seated in your power chair while traveling in a motor vehicle. The power chair should be stowed in the trunk of a car or in the back of a truck or van with batteries removed and properly secured.

18 www.pridemobility.com Quantum 600 Series III. YOUR POWER CHAIR THE QUANTUM 600 SE RIES POWER CHAIR Your power chair has two main assemblies: the seat assembly and the po wer base assembly. See figure 5. Typi- cally, the seat assembly includes the armrests, seatback, and se at base.

20 www.pridemobility.com Quantum 600 Series III. YOUR POWER CHAIR Main Circuit Breaker: The main circuit breaker is a safety featur e built in to your power chair. When the batteries and the motors are heav ily strained (e.g., from excessive loads), the main circuit br eaker trips to prevent damage to the motors and the elect ronics.
Quantum 600 Series www.pridemobility.com 21 Manual Freewheel Levers Your power chair has a manual freewh eel lever on each motor. Manual freewheel levers enable you to disengage the drive motors and maneuver the chai r manually.
22 www.pridemobility.com Quantum 600 Series SEAT INSTALLATION ARMREST ANGLE ADJUSTMENT CONTROLLER POSITION INITIAL ASSEMBLY Your power chair may require some assembly either before initial use or after trans portation. It may also require disassembly to make some comfort adjustments.

ASSEMBLY Seat Installation It may be necessary to install the seat either prior to initial operation or after tr ansporting your power chair. Most seats are attached to the power base with the Uni- versal Mounting System (U MS).

See fig- ure 23. The positioning belt is designed to support the operator so that he/she does not slide down or forward in the seat.
Quantum 600 Series www.pridemobility.com 31 VI. BATTERIES AND CHARGING BATTERIES AND CHARGING Your power chair uses two l ong-lasting, 12-volt, deep-cycle batteries. Th ese batteries are seal ed and maintenance free. Since they are sealed, there is no need to check the electrolyte (fluid) le vel.
32 www.pridemobility.com Quantum 600 Series Battery Break-in To break in new batterie s for maximum efficiency: 1. Fully recharge any new battery prior to its initial use. This brings the battery up to about 90% of its peak performance level. 2. Operate your power chair throughout th e house and yard.
Quantum 600 Series www.pridemobility.com 33 VI. BATTERIES AND CHARGING Daily Use If you use your power chair on a daily basis, charge the batteries as soon as you ar e finished using your power chair. Your power chair will be re ady each morning to give you a full da y’s service.

Like any motorized vehicle, it requires routine maintenance checks. You can perform some of these checks, but ot hers require assistance from your Quantum Rehab Provider.

The body shroud has been spra yed with a clear sealant coating. You ca n apply a light coat of car wax to help it retain its high-gloss appearance.

See III. “Your Power Chair.” 3. Gently push down and pull backward at the harness access point on th e rear shroud until it releases.
