7-ENG DESCRIPTION OF OPERA TION Drain V alve (not shown): The drain valve is located at the base of the air tank and is used to drain condensation at the end of each use. Motor Thermal Overload Protector (not shown): The electric motor has an automatic thermal overload protector .
8-ENG INST ALLA TION Location of the Air Compressor Locate the air compressor in a clean, dry , and well-ventilated area. The air filter must be kept clear of obstructions which could reduce air flow to the air compressor .
9-ENG V oltage and Circuit Protection Refer to the specification chart for voltage and circuit protection requirements of your compressor . Use only a fuse or circuit br eaker that is the same rating as the branch circuit on which the air compr essor is operated.
10-ENG BREAK-IN PROCEDURES Serious damage may result if the following break-in instructions are not closely followed. This procedur e is required befor e the air compressor is put into service. (befor e the hose is installed), the check valve is replaced, or a complete compr essor pump is replaced.
11-ENG SERVICE INSTRUCTIONS Air Filter - Inspection and Replacement Hot surfaces. Risk of burn. Compressor heads are exposed when filter cover is removed. Allow compr essor to cool prior to servicing. Keep the air filter clean at all times. Do not operate the compressor with the air filter r emoved.
12-ENG Check V alve Replacement 1. Release all air pressur e fr om air tank and unplug outfit. 2. Remove shroud. 3. Loosen the top and bottom nuts and remove the outlet tube. 4. Remove the pressur e release tube and fitting. 5. Unscrew the check valve using a socket wr ench.
13-ENG CAUSE PERFORMING REP AIRS MA Y EXPOSE VOL T AGE SOURCES, MOVING P ARTS OR COMPRESSED AIR SOURCES. PERSONAL INJUR Y MA Y OCCUR. PRIOR TO A TTEMPTING ANY REP AIRS, UNPLUG THE AIR COMPRESSOR AND BLEED OFF ALL AIR T ANK AIR PRESSURE. PROBLEM CORRECTION TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE Excessive tank pressur e - safety valve pops off.
14-ENG CAUSE PROBLEM CORRECTION Motor will not run or restart. Motor overload protection switch has tripped. T ank pressur e exceeds pressur e switch “cut-in” pressur e. Wr ong gauge wire or length of extension cord. Check valve stuck open. Loose electrical connections.
15-ENG Operate safety valve manually by pulling on ring. If valve still leaks, it should be replaced. Possible defect in safety valve. Air leak from safety valve. CAUSE PROBLEM CORRECTION Knocking Noise. Defective check valve. Remove and clean, or replace.
