7 1. Introduction 1.1 An Overview of WebShare 111U Welcome to the WebShare 111U. Your WebShare 111U is an “all-in-one” unit, combining an ADSL2+ modem, ADSL router and Ethernet network sw itch, providin g everything you need to get th e machines on your network connected to the Internet over your ADSL broadband connection.
8 For advanced users, Virtual Service functi on a llows the product to provi de limit ed visibility to local machines w ith specific se rvices for outside users. An ISP (Internet Service Provid ers) provide d IP addres s can be set to the product and then specific services can be rerouted t o specific computers on the local network.
9 1.3 Technical Features Technical charateristics of WebShare 111U: • ADSL Multi-Mode Standard: supports downstream rates of up to 24 M b p s a n d u p s t r e a m r a t e s o f u p t o 1 M b p s .
10 for one access account. No PPPoE client software is required for local computer. The Automatic Reconn ect an d Disconn ect Timeout (Idle Tim er) functions are provided, too.
11 1.4 WebShare 111U Application Follow the f ollowings st eps to cabling the device: • Connect WAN Port to the telephone line throught RJ-11 cable (c ontained in package).
12 2.2 The Front LEDs LED MEANING PWR Lit red when pow er is ON. Lit green wh en the s ystem is rea dy. LAN • Lit when connected to an Ethern et device. • Lit green for both 10M and 100M. • Blinking when data is Transmitted / Receiv ed. USB Lit when the dev ice is connect ed to the PC and is work ing properly.
13 2.3 The Rear Ports PORT MEANING LINE (RJ11) Connect the supplied R J-11 (“teleph one”) cabl e to this port when c onnecting to th e ADSL/tele phone network .
14 2.4 Cabling First you must connect the product to the ADSL line through the RJ11 cable you have in equipment (in th e port LINE ) and connect the AC Adapter to the WebShare 111U and then to the socket.
15 2.5 Ethernet Connection WebShare 111U is equi pped with a 10/100 M b ps Ethernet port (with RJ-45 connect or) to permits the connecti on between a PC (with Fast Ethernet N IC and TCP/IP sta ck installed) and th e Modem/Rout er.
16 2.6 USB Connection Do not plug USB Modem to Yo ur PC before install USB driver. WebShare 11 1U also h as provid ed with an USB por t in or der to conn ect the device with a PC using a free US B port (rev1.1 or 2.0). 2.7 USB Driver To use WebShare 111U with USB connection, Yo u have to install driv er provided into Cd-Rom.

Choosing Custom installation’s method, you have to confirm destination path for driver installation a nd whic h components You have to install. 5. Now, the installa tion utility will ask You to plug USB modem to y our PC.

45 7.4 Traffic Shaping Traffic Shapin g is an agreement betw een the carrier and the s ubscrib er to regulate the average rate and “burstine ss” or fluctuation of data transmissi on over an ATM network.
