1 Chapter 1 Introduction Overview The Master View CL-1758 KVM Switch is a control un it that allows access to multiple computers from a single keyboard, monitor, and mouse (K VM) console.

CL-1758 User Manual 10 St andard Rack Mounting A standard rack mounting kit is prov ided with your CL-1758. The kit enab les the switch t o be mounted in rack with a depth of 4 2.0 - 82.0 cm. Note: It takes two people to m ount the switch: one to hold it in place; the other to screw it in.

19 Chapter 3 Basic Operation Opening the Console The CL-1758's console is located under the top cove r. To access the console, slide the console module out and raise the cover. Note: As a safety precaution, to keep th e console from accidentally s liding out, the console is locked into the In po si tio n.

Pull the safety catches on the unit's side rails toward you and pu sh the module in unti l it stops. 2. Release the catches; pull the module sli ghtly toward you; then push it all the way in.

29 Chapter 4 OSD Operation OSD Overview The On Screen Display (OSD) is a menu d riven method to han dle computer control and switchi ng operations. All pr ocedures start from the OSD Main Screen. To pop up the Main Screen, tap the OSD key (see p. 71), or tap the [Scroll Lock] key twice.

For example, you can: rapidly switch to any port; scan selected ports only; limit the list you wish to view; designate a port as a Quick Vi ew Port; create or edit a port name; or make OSD setting adjustments.
Chapter 4. OSD Operation 33 F2 LIST Many of the OSD functions only operate on the computers that are listed on the Main Screen. This functi on lets you broa den or narrow the scope of which port s the OSD displays (lists) on the Main Screen.

41 Chapter 5 Keyboard Port Operation The CL-1758 provides an ex tensive, easy-to-use, hotkey funct ion that makes it convenient to cont rol and configure your KVM instal lation from the keyboard. Note: The hotkey function must be enabled to use ho tkey op erations.

CL-1758 User Manual 46 Beeper Control The Beeper can be hotkey toggled On and Off. To toggle the Beeper, do the following: 1. Invoke HKM (see p. 41). 2. Press and release the [B] key . The Beeper toggles On or Off. The Command Line disp lays Beeper On or Beeper Off for one second; th en the message disappears and you automatically exit Hotkey Mode.

49 Chapter 6 Keyboard Emulation Mac Keyboard The PC compatible (101/104 key) keyboard can emu late the functions of the Mac keyboard. The emulation mappings are listed in the table below. Note: When using key combinations, press and release the first key (Ctrl), then press and release the activation key .

51 Chapter 7 The Firmware Upgrade Utility The Windows-based Firmware Upgrade Uti lit y (FWUpg rade.exe) provides a smooth, automated process for u pgrading the KVM switch's firmware. The Utility comes as part of a Firmware Upgrade Package th at is specific for each device.
