5 INST ALLA TION Belt Clip If you wish, you can attach the belt c lip to the cordless handset, f ollowing the illustrations below . (The handset cannot be char ged in the f ace-up position if the belt clip is attac hed.
6 FEA TURE SETUP Y ou can set up one feature at a time as described below , or you can set up a featur e, and then move on to set up another featur e. After you change one featur e, press U to exit, or select the DONE softkey to move to the ne xt feature.
7 FEA TURE SETUP Ringer Off / Battery Sa v e When the Ringer is set to OFF , the handset stays read y to use for up to 30 days in the standby mode bef ore y ou have to return it to the base f or recharging. When the Ringer is off, the P age/Handset Locator f eature does not wor k, and the screen does not display incoming call inf ormation.
8 Pr ogramming Home and Local Ar ea Codes Y our “home area code” is the ar ea code from which y ou are dialing. Numbers called within your home area code do not requir e you to dial a “1” or the area code bef ore dialing the telephone number .
9 FEA TURE SETUP Call List Options Y ou can customize how the phone stores call inf ormation. Select whether the system stores inf ormation about ALL CALLS received, or for NO CALLS . The system comes set to ALL CALLS . 1 Make sure the is not display ed.

13 Changing Channels This cordless telephone has an advanced AutoSelect f eatur e that minimizes the chance of interf erence. When the phone is looking for a clear c hannel, the screen displa ys SEARCHING... . If it is una ble to locate a clear c hannel, the screen displa ys TRY AGAIN .
14 Y ou can store up to 10 telephone numbers and names in memor y . The telephone memor y works with the Memory Match and Prior ity Ring features. When you r eceive a call from a number y ou’ ve stor ed in memor y , the screen displays the name inf ormation as you’ v e stored it, not as the ser vice sends it (f or example, “ MOM AND DAD ”).
15 TELEPHONE MEMOR Y Replacing a Stor ed Number Y ou can replace a stored number by storing a new number in its place. Follo w the directions f or “Storing Number s in Memor y .
16 Priority Ring Numbers When you view a number stor ed in memor y , you can label it so that when a call is received fr om that number , the handset alerts you with a special ring that this is a prior ity call. The special r ing beg ins after the first nor mal r ing on the line.
17 CALLER ID OPERA TION L2 L1 Battery status indicator About Caller Identification This telephone has a Caller ID f eature that wor ks with Caller Identification ser vice provided by your local telephone compan y . There is a fee f or this ser vice, and it may not be available in all ar eas.
18 Incoming Call History This telephone assigns each incoming call a number from 1 to 99. The most recent call will hav e the highest number (f or e xample, if 10 calls have been received, call number 10 is the most recent, and call number 1 is the oldest).
19 If you tr y to use the Display Dial f eature, but your call cannot be completed unless you dial “1” before the n umber , follow the steps below: 1 Press < or > to locate the number y ou want to call. 2 Press M . 3 Press > until the screen displa ys DIAL 1+ .
20 BA TTERIES Charging the Handset Ba ttery Pack This batter y should remain charg ed up to 15 days with the Ring er turned on and up to 30 days with the Ring er of f. A fully charg ed batter y provides an aver age talk time of about 12 hours. The batter y pack needs charging when: • A new batter y is installed in the handset.
21 BA TTERIES Replacing the Handset Battery Pack 1 Remove the battery compartment cover on the handset by pressing on the indentation and sliding the cov er downward. 2 Lift out the old battery pack. 3 Hold the new battery pack and plug the connector into the handset.
22 OPERA TING RANGE This cordless telephone oper ates within the maximum power allow ed by the Federal Comm unications Commission (FCC). Even so, the handset and base can communicate over onl y a certain distance — which can vary with the locations of the base and handset, the weather , and the constr uction of your home or office.
23 IN CASE OF DIFFICUL TY If you hav e difficulty operating this phone, tr y the suggestions below . If you still have troub le, call 1 800 722–9125. If the phone does not w ork at all, check these items first: • Make sure the pow er cord is plugg ed into the base and an electrical outlet not controlled by a wall s witch.
24 IN CASE OF DIFFICUL TY If y ou hear a tw o-beep signal when y ou try to use the handset: • Y ou might be out of range. Move closer to the base and tr y a gain. • If moving closer to the base doesn’ t help, tr y following the directions above f or re-initializing the handset and base.
25 IN CASE OF DIFFICUL TY If the caller’ s name or phone number is not displa y ed: • Make sure y ou subscribe to Caller ID ser vice or Caller Name ser vice from your local telephone compan y . • Make sure the Ring er is on. • Make sure the batter y is charged.
