6 1-800-732-2677 How the System W orks A radio signal travels from the Fence T ransmitter through a buried wire, marking the boundaries you wish to set for your dog. Y our dog wears a Receiver Collar that detects the signal at the boundary . As your dog appr oaches the boundary , the receiver issues a warning tone and vibrates.
6 1-800-732-2677 www .petsafe.net 7 Operating Guide Locate the Fence T ransmitter Place the Fence T ransmitter: • In a dry , well ventilated, protected ar ea ( 1A, 1B ). • In an area wher e temperatures do not fall below fr eezing (e.g., garage, basement, shed, closet).
8 1-800-732-2677 Lay Out the System Basic Planning Tips Under ground cables can carry high voltage. Have all under ground cables marked before you dig to bury your wire.
8 1-800-732-2677 www .petsafe.net 9 Double Loop A Double Loop must be used when you are not establishing the Boundary Zone on all sides of your pr operty . When using a Double Loop, the Boundary Wire must be separated by a minimum of 5 FEET to avoid canceling the signal.
10 1-800-732-2677 Position the Boundary W ire Lay out the Boundary Wire using your planned boundary and test the system BEFORE burying the wir e or attaching it to an existing fence.

12 1-800-732-2677 Pr epare the Receiver Collar Y our Receiver Collar comes with short Contact Points. Long Contact Points for pets with long or thick hair are available thr ough our Customer Care Center . Tighten the Contact Points using T est Light T ool ( 5A ) one-half turn beyond finger tight.
12 1-800-732-2677 www .petsafe.net 13 Anti-Linger Prevention The Anti-Linger Prevention featur e keeps your dog from staying in the W arning Zone for long periods of time and draining the Receiver Collar battery . Y our dog will hear a warning tone when he reaches the W arning Zone.
14 1-800-732-2677 1. Apply Power to the Fence T ransmitter with the supplied Power Adapter . 2. Set the Boundary Width Control Switch (located on the side of the Fence T ransmitter) ( 6A ) to the A, B, or C setting based on the total length of Boundary Wire used.
14 1-800-732-2677 www .petsafe.net 15 9. T o test the run-through pr evention feature, walk towar ds the Boundary Wire. The Receiver Collar should tone and the T est Light should flash brighter as you enter the run-through ar ea ( 6G ).

Be sure to always wear your safety goggles. • Concrete Driveway or Sidewalk (7C): Place the Boundary Wire in a convenient expansion joint or create a groove using a cir cular saw and masonry blade.
16 1-800-732-2677 www .petsafe.net 17 Fit the Receiver Collar Important: The proper fit and placement of your Receiver Collar is important for ef fective training. The Contact Points must have direct contact with your pet’ s skin on the underside of his neck.
18 1-800-732-2677 T o Re-Thread the Collar Slide Buckle Ridges The slide buckle prevents the collar fr om becoming loose around your pet’ s neck. The ridges must be facing up; the collar will slip if it is not properly thr eaded.

Goal: T o have your pet learn that the Boundary Flags and warning beep and vibration from the Receiver Collar define the new Pet Area.
20 1-800-732-2677 Steps: 1. Repeat steps 1-5 in Phase One. 2. If your pet does not r espond to the Static Correction, confirm that the Receiver Collar is fitting properly according to Step 9 on page 15.

Y our pet is ready for this step only when he clearly avoids the entire Static Correction Zone , regar dless of any distractions or temptations.

Discharge all power by holding the correction level button down until the light is no longer illuminated.
24 1-800-732-2677 System T est The system test is used to determine the cause of system problems that have not been addr essed elsewhere in this guide. Y ou will need a 10 foot piece of Boundary Wire with 3 ⁄ 8 inch of insulation removed fr om each end to use as a test loop wire.
24 1-800-732-2677 www .petsafe.net 25 T ransmitter Loop T est The T ransmitter Loop T est is a simple test to determine the cause of a “Boundary Wire Broken or Disconnected” alarm indication. Y ou will need a short 10 foot piece of Boundary Wire with 3⁄8 inch of insulation stripped from both ends.
