Preparation 22 The Mode Dial You can choose a desired mode by the mode dial. : Playback (P53) Playback rec orded images. : Simple mode (P27) Menu opt ions are minim ized and many settings are p reset. This is a fast a nd easy way for beginners to start using the camera and become famili ar with its many features.
Preparation 23 Operating th e Menu The camera menu allows you to configure the Record and Playback modes, date and time, and various o ther operational sounds the camera produces. Follow these inst ructions. [Preparation] • Set the m ode dial to the reco rding mode (except for [ ]) or the playback mode.
Preparation 24 Setting the Date/Time (Clock Set) If the messag e [PLEASE S ET THE CLOCK] appears, set the date and t ime. You can go to the setup menu by press ing the [MENU] button while the m essage is displayed. You can set the year from 2002 to 2099.

We recommend placing the subject much closer and allowing for proper distance between subject and background.

Recording im ages (advanced) 45 Compensating the Exposure In some situat ions the illuminati on of the background and your subject m ay differ. A uto exposure syst ems may not a lways calculate the exposure co rrectly. This is a normal situation. This feature allows you t o manually compensate the exposure.

In some situations where several different types of l ighting are present, enhanced performance c an be achieved by setting the white balance m anually.
