19 Connecting the A V receiver Speaker Config uration For 7.1-channel surround-s ound playback, you need se ven speakers and a po wered subwoofer . The following table shows which channels you should use based on the number of speakers you ha ve.

21 Connecting the A V receiver —Continued The speakers can easily be w all mounted by using the keyhole slots. T o mount the front or surround speakers vertically , use the keyhole slot sho wn to hang each speak er on a screw that’ s securely scre wed into the w all.
22 Connecting the A V receiver —Contin ued The FR ONT L/R and SURR B A CK L/R terminal posts can be used with front speakers and surround back speakers respecti v ely , or bi-amped to pro vide separate tweeter and woofer feeds for front speak ers, providing improv ed bass and treble performance.

44 First Time Setup —Contin ued If the impedance of any speaker is 4 ohms or more b ut less than 6, set the Speaker Impedance to 4 ohms. North American models do not support speakers with an impedance of less than 6 ohms. T o use bi-amping, you must change the Speak er T ype setting.

50 Basic Oper ations —Continued This section explains functions that can be used with an y input source. Y ou can adjust the bass and treble for the front speakers, except when the Direc t, Pure Audio listening mode is selected.

T o unmute the A V receiv er, press the remot e controller’ s [MUTING] b utton again, or adjust the volume. The outp ut is unmuted and the MUTING indicator goes off.
52 Basic Oper ations —Continued The Music Optimizer func tion enhances the sound quality of compressed music files. Use it with music files that use “lossy” compression, such as MP3. Note: The Music Optimizer function only works with PCM digital audio input signals with a sa mpling rate below 48 kHz and analog audio input signals.
53 Listening to the Radio For AM/FM tuning to work properly , you must specify the AM/FM frequency step used in your area. Note that when this setting is cha nged, all radi o presets are deleted. 95 T roub leshooting —Continued • If the message “Resolution Error” appears on the A V recei ver’ s display , this indicates that your TV does not support the current video resolution and you need to select another resolution on your D VD player .
