4 SAFETY R ULES II. SLOPE OPERA TION Slopes are a major f actor related to loss of control and tip-ov er accidents, which can result in se vere injury or death. Opera- tion on all slopes requires e xtra caution. If you cannot bac k up the slope or if you f eel uneasy on it, do not mow it.
5 SAFETY R ULES • Ne ver carry children, ev en with the blades shut off . They ma y fall off and be seriously injured or interfere with saf e machine operation. Children who hav e been given rides in the past may suddenly appear in the mowing area f or another r ide and be run ov er or back ed ov er by the machine .

8 Y our new tractor has been assemb led at the factory with the exception of those par ts left unassembled f or shipping pur poses. T o ensure saf e and proper operation of y our tractor all par ts and hardware y ou as sem b le must be tightened securely .
9 CHECK B A TTER Y 1. Lift seat pan to raised position. NO TE: If this batter y is put into ser vice after month and year indicated on label (label located between terminals) charge batter y f or minimum of one hour at 6-10 amps. (See "BA TTER Y" in Maintenance section of this manual f or charging instruc- tions).
10 CHECK TIRE PRESSURE The tires on your tr actor were ov er in - fl ated at the factory for shipping pur pos es. Correct tire pressure is impor tant for best cutting perf or mance. • Reduce tire pressure to PSI sho wn in “PRODUCT SPEC I FI CA TIONS” section of this manual.

13 T O ADJUST MO WER CUTTING HEIGHT The position of the attachment lift le ver deter mines the cutting height. • Gr asp lift lev er . • Press plunger with thumb and mo ve le ver to desired position. The cutting height range is ap pro x i- mate ly 1-1/2 to 4".

15 T O TRANSPORT • Raise attachment lift to highest position with at tach ment lift control. • When pushing or to wing your tr ac tor , be sure gearshift le ver is in neutral (N) position. • Do not push or to w tractor at more than fi ve (5) MPH.
16 MO WING TIPS • Tire chains cannot be used when the mow er hous ing is attached to tractor . • Mo wer should be properly lev eled f or best mowing perf or mance. See “T O LEVEL MO WER HOUSING” in the Ser vice and Adjustments sec tion of this manual.
17 MAINTENANCE BEFORE EACH USE T R A C T 0 R Inspect Muffler/Spark Arrester Lubrication Chart Check Brake Operation Clean Air Filter Change Engine Oil (with oil filter) Replace Air Filter Paper Cartri.
18 BLADE REMO V AL 1. Raise mower to highest position to al- low access to b lades. 2. Remov e blade bolt, loc k washer and fl at washer securing blade. 3. Install ne w or reshar pened blade with trailing edge up to wards deck as sho wn. IMPORT ANT : T o ensure proper as sem bl y , center hole in blade m ust align with star on mandrel assembly .
19 4. Reassemble b lade bolt, lock w asher and fl at washer in e xact order as shown. 5. Tighten blade bolt securely (27-35 Ft. Lbs. torque). IMPORT ANT : Blade bolt is heat treated. If bolt needs replacing, replace only with approv e bolt shown in the Repair P ar ts.
20 MUFFLER Inspect and replace corroded muffl er and spark arrester (if equipped) as it could cre- ate a fi re hazard and/or dam age . SP ARK PLUG(S) Replace spark plug(s) at the beginning of each mowing season or after e ver y 100 hours of operation, whiche ver occurs fi rst.

26 T O REPLA CE HEADLIGHT BULB 1. Raise hood. 2. Pull bulb holder out of the hole in the backside of the g r ill. 3. Replace bulb in holder and push b ulb holder securely back into the hole in the backside of the g r ill.
27 ST ORA GE Immediately prepare your tr actor for stor- age at the end of the season or if the trac- tor will not be used f or 30 days or more . W ARNING: Nev er store the trac tor with gas o line in the tank inside a b uilding where fumes ma y reach an open fl ame or spark.
