W arning and Safety instructions 9 Correct use Never use a nak ed flame beneath the cooker hood. T o avoid the danger of fire, do not flambé or grill over a nak ed flame. When switched on, the cooker hood could dr aw flames into the filter . F at deposits could ignite, presenting a fir e hazard.
W arning and Safety instructions 10 Do not use the co oker hood without the filters in place. This way you will avoid the risk of grease and dirt getting int o the appliance and hindering its smooth oper ation. The filt ers should be regularly cleaned or changed as appr opriate.
W arning and Safety instructions 11 Exhaust ducting must be of non- inflammable material. Suitable material is available fr om Miele specialist dealers or the Miele Spares Dept. The applianc e must not be connected t o a chimney or flue which is in use.
Caring for the envir onment 12 Disposal of the packing mat erial The packaging is designed to pr otect th e appliance from damage during transportation. The packaging mat erials used are select ed from materials which are envir onmentally friendly for disposal and should be recycled.
Modes of operation 13 Depending on the model of the cooker hoo d, the following options are available: Extraction mode The air is drawn in and cleaned by the gr ease filters and dir ected outside. Non-return flap The non-return flap is designed t o pr event the ex change of room and outside air taking place.

Cleaning and care 19 Casing General information The surfaces and controls ar e susce ptible to scr atches and abrasion. Please observe the following cleaning instructions. All e xternal surfaces and contr ols can be cleaned using hot water with a small amount of washing-up liquid applied with a well wrung-out soft sponge or cloth.

Cleaning and care 21 Cleaning the grease filters by hand Cle an the filters with a soft nylon brush in a mild solution of hot water and a small amount of washing-up liquid. Do not use "neat" washing up liquid. Unsuitable cleaning agents Unsuitable cleaning agents can cause damage t o the surface of the filters if used regularly .
Cleaning and care 22 Charcoal filter If the cooker hood is connected for r ecirculation, a char coal filter must be inserted in addition to the gr ease filters. This is designed to absorb cooking odours and is fitted in the canopy above the grease filt ers.

Installation 28 Installation recommendations – When deciding on the safety distance between the hob and coo ker hood, please note that a distance of 650 mm above electric cookers/hobs may be prefer a ble to give more working space under the hood. – Account should also be taken of the height of the person who will be usin g the hood most often.
Connection for air e xtraction 29 I f this cooker hood is used at the same time as a heating appliance that relies on o xygen from the same room ther e is a risk in certain circumstances of t oxic fumes building up. It is essential that the "Warning and Safety" instructio ns are observed.
Connection for air e xtraction 30 Condensate trap In addition to insulating the e xhaust ducting , we recommend that a suitable condensate tr ap is also installed to collect and evaporat e any condensate which may occur . Condensate tr aps for 125 mm or 150 mm ducting are available as optional accessories.
Connection for air e xtraction 31 Recirculation mode The silencer needs to be positioned between the exhaust socket and the directional unit . Ensur e there is adequate space for fitting it.
Electrical connection 32 All electrical work should be undertaken by a suitably qualified and competent person in strict accordance with curr ent national and local safety regulations (BS 7671 in the UK). Installation, repairs and other work by unqualified persons could be dangerous, for which the manufacturer cannot be held liable.
