7 INST ALLA TION Bench mounting When the tool is shipped, the handle is lock ed in the lowered position by the stopper pin. Release the stopper pin b y lower- ing the handle slightly and pulling the stopper pin. This tool should be bolted with two bolts to a le vel and stab le surf ace using the bolt holes provided in the tool’ s base.
8 If the see-through blade guard becomes dirty , or sawdust adheres to it in such a wa y that the blade is no longer easily visible , unplug the saw and clean the guard carefully with a damp cloth. Do not use solvents or an y petroleum-based cleaners on the plastic guard.
9 Maintaining maximum cutting capacity This tool is fa ctor y adjusted to provide the maximum cutting capacity f or a 190 mm (7 - 1/2 ” ) saw blade . When installing a new b lade, alwa ys check the lo wer limit position of the blade and if necessary , adjust it as follo ws: First, unplug the tool.
10 Adjusting the miter angle Loosen the grip by turning counterclockwise. T ur n the turn base while pressing down the loc k lev er . When you hav e mov ed the grip to the position where the pointer points to the desired angle on the miter scale, securely tighten the grip clockwise .
11 • Do not pull the s witch tr igger hard without pressing in the lock-off b utton. This can cause switch breakage . T o prev ent the switch trigger from being accidentally pulled, a lock-off b utton is provided. T o star t the tool, press in the loc k- off button and pull the s witch trigger .
12 Socket wrenc h storage The sock et wrench is stored as shown in the figure. When using the sock et wrench, pull it out of the wrench holder . After using the sock et wrench, retur n it to the wrench holder .
13 Press the shaft lock to loc k the spindle and use the socket wrench to loosen the he x bolt clockwise. Then remo ve the he x bolt, outer flange and blade. T o install the blade, mount it carefully onto the spindle , mak- ing sure that the direction of the arrow on the surf ace of the blade matches the direction of the arro w on the blade case.
14 Dust bag The use of the dust bag makes cutting operations clean and dust collection easy . T o attach the dust bag, fit it onto the dust nozzle. When the dust bag is about half full, remov e the dust bag from the tool and pull the f astener out.
15 V ertical vise The vertical vise can be installed in two positions on either the left or right side of the guide fence or the holder assemb ly (optional accessor y). Inser t the vise rod into the hole in the guide f ence or the holder assembly and tighten the screw to secure the vise rod.
16 Holders and holder assembl y (optional accessories) The holders and the holder assembly can be installed on either side as a conv enient means of suppor ting workpieces horizontally . Install them as shown in the figure . Then tighten the screws firmly to secure the holders and the holder assembly .
17 1. Press cutting (cutting small workpieces) W or kpieces up to 50 mm (2 ” ) high and 97 mm (3-13/16 ” ) wide can be cut in the f ollowing wa y . Push the carriage toward the guide f ence fully and tighten the clamp screw on the turn base clockwise to secure the carriage.

19 When perfo r ming compound cutting, refer to “ Press cut- ting ” , “ Slide cutting ” , “ Miter cutting ” and “ Be vel cut ” e xplanations. 6. Cutting cro wn and cove moldings Crown and co ve moldings can be cut on a compound miter saw with the moldings laid flat on the turn base.

23 7. Cutting aluminum ex trusion When securing aluminum e xtr usions, use spacer b locks or pieces of scrap as shown in the figure to pre v ent def or mation of the aluminum. Use a cutting lubricant when cutting the aluminum e xtrusion to prev ent build-up of the aluminum material on the blade.

Cutting repetitive lengths When cutting se veral pieces of stoc k to the same length, ranging from 220 mm (8 - 5/8 ” ) to 385 mm (15 - 1/8 ” ), use of the set plate (optional accessor y) will f acilitate more efficient operation. Install the set plate on the holder (optional accessor y) as shown in the figure.
25 Carr y the tool by carrying grip as shown in the figure. If y ou remov e the holders, dust bag, etc., you can carry the tool more easily . 26 Make sure that the pointer points to 0 ° on the miter scale. If the pointer does not point to 0 ° , loosen the screw which secures the pointer and adjust the pointer so that it will point to 0 ° . 2. 27 Make sure that the pointer on the arm point to 0 ° on the be vel scale on the arm holder . If it does not point to 0 ° , loosen the screw which secures the pointer and adjust the pointer so that it will point to 0 ° . (2) 45 ° be vel angle Adjust the 45 ° be vel angle only after perf or ming 0 ° be vel angle adjustment.
28 After use • After use, wipe off chips and dust adhering to the tool with a cloth or the like . Keep the b lade guard clean according to the directions in the pre viously covered section titled “ Blade guard ” . Lubricate the sliding por tions with machine oil to prev ent rust.
