3 1. Introduction The Lynx L- 210 is the perf ect high- speed WAN bridge/rout er. This full-feature d product is specific ally designed to c onnect t o the Internet and direct ly connect to your local area net work vi a high speed 10/1 00 Mbps Etherne t.

5 2. Your gateway at a glance The Lynx L-210 may have diff erent port s and LEDs . Let’s take a lo ok at the different opt ions. Depending u po n yo u r mod el, it may have some or all of t he features list ed below 2.
6 3. Installing your Lynx L-210 1 . Locate an optimum loc ation f or t he Lynx L-210. 2. For conn ec tions t o t he Ethe r net and DS L interfac es , please refer t o the easy s tart guide. 3. Connect the AC Power A dapter. Depe n ding upon t he type of net work, you may wa nt to put the power supply on a n uninterr uptibl e s upply.
7 4. Setting up your Lynx L-210 This section will guide you through your Lynx L-210’s configuration. The Lynx L-210 is shipped with a standar d PPP configurat ion. 4.1 Log into your Lynx L-210 To configu re your L ynx L-210, open y our web b rowser.

9 4.3.1 Wide Area Network conne ct ion On the othe r side of t he Lynx L-21 0 is where you r Wide Area Net work (WAN) c onnecti on; also referred t o as a bro adband con nection. This WAN c onnection is diff erent for ever y WAN supplier. Most of the confi guration you will perform w ill be in this area.
10 To configu re the Lynx L-210 as a brid ge, click on Setup and then c lick on New Conne ction . The default PPP oE connecti on setup is displa yed. At the Type f ield selec t Bridge and the Bridge connect ion setup pa ge is displayed (s ee Figure 4).

27 4.7.2 User Management You can change your Lynx L-210’s username and passw ord by clicking on User Manage ment. From here yo u can cha nge the login name and pas sword. You can also c hange th e idle timeo ut; you will need to log back onto t he Ly nx L-210 once the t imeout expires.

Chec k to see t hat the po wer LED is green a nd than the network c ables ar e installed correctly .
31 5.4 The DSL Link LED is always off 1. Make sure you hav e DSL servic e. You should get s ome kind of informat ion from your I SP that stat es that DSL s ervice is inst alled. You can us ually tell if t he service is inst alled by listening to th e phone line; you will hear s ome high-pitc hed noise.
32 6. Lynx L-210 terms What is a firewall? A firewall is p rotect ion betwe en the Int ernet and you r local net work. It acts similarly to t he firewall i n your car, prot ecting t he int erior of the car from t he engine.
