4 Activities, devices, and inputs Y ou’re about t o experience a new standard in simplicity with ev en the most complex components. With just one t ouch you can start watching, list ening or playing.
5 The butt ons on your Harmon y 1 1 00i The Harmony 1 1 00i buttons can hav e differ ent functions or control differ ent devices, depending on which Activity y ou’re in. F or example, when you wat ch a D VD, the volume butt on controls y our st ereo while the Play and Pause butt ons control y our D VD player .

7 Activities The Activities scr een is your starting point on the Harmony 1 1 00i. F rom this scr een, you select which Activity y ou want t o start. Devices The Devices screen lists all of the devices in y our ent er tainment syst em.
8 Status icons The status indicat or flashes whenever an IR command is being sent from y our Harmony 1 1 00i. The batt er y indicator shows the batt er y level or char ging status. T o ensure y our Harmony stays properly char ged, see Charging y our remot e .
9 The Activities scr een displays the Activities you created f or the remote. Y ou can star t an Activity by touching the item on the screen. Using your Harmony 1100i Selecting an Activity T o select a new Activity , press the Activities but ton, and then select the Activity you want to enjoy .

11 Controlling your devices individually When you rst set up an Activity , the Harmony Remote Sof tware automatically assigns common commands for you to use in that Activity .
12 Guided online setup When you inser t the Harmony remote CD in your computer , the guided online setup launches. Follow the easy setup instructions to install the Harmony Remote Software. For mor e information on installing the Harmony Remote Software, refer to the Get ting Star ted guide.
13 2. Connecting your Harmony 1100i to your computer T o connect your Harmony 1100i to your PC, use the USB cable provided. Remove your Harmony 1100i from the char ging station. 1. Connect the smaller end of the cable to the USB por t on your remote. 2.
14 4. Set ting up Activities for your Harmony 1100i T o set up Activities, you need to enter the information r elated to the Activities you will be using on your Harmony 1100i. The Harmony Remote Software shows you a selection of recommended Activities based on the device inf ormation you provided.
15 5. Updating the remote After you enter your device and Activity information, the software saves your information. It also transfers the inf ormation to your Harmony 1100i. Af ter the software updates your remote, you’r e ready to test your setup.
16 T esting your setup Every time you update your Harmony 1100i, you should test your remote to make sur e it’s working the way you expect. This chapter gives you the information you need to test your remote. It also has some suggestions on what to check while you’r e testing your setup.
17 Whether you get a new device or want to change the behavior of some but tons, you may need to make changes to your Harmony 1100i setup. The following sections provide you with the information to help you with these tasks. Changing your setup Y ou can add a device, remove a device, or modify the set tings for a device.
18 No picture? No sound? No problem! A passthrough device is a device that you add to your system that a signal passes through unaltered. For example, if you use your DVD r ecorder (or VCR) to recor d shows from your satellite or set top box, you may need to add your DVD recor der as a passthrough device.

21 Customizing your Harmony 1100i Y ou can customize your Harmony 1100i to make the screen look and act the way you want. Y ou can easily change the order in which your Activities appear on the r emote screen. Rearranging the order of the Activities allows you to have the Activities you use most often appear at the top of the list .
22 Changing how but tons work in an Activity When you select an Activity , your Harmony 1100i turns on all the required entertainment devices, sets up the device inputs correctly , and sets up the remote but tons to control the devices in the Activity .
23 Y ou can use your own pictures or images to cr eate a slideshow on your Harmony 1100i. T o add a slideshow to your Harmony 1100i, from the Harmony Remote Software: Click the 1. Remote Set tings tab. Click 2. Set Up a Slideshow . Follow the online instructions.
24 Changing the backlight set tings The Harmony 1100i senses when you pick it up, and lights up the display and but tons. T o set the length of time the backlight stays on, change the color of the backlight, or change the brightness level of the backlight, from your Harmony r emote screen: Press the 1.
25 The Harmony one is always learning new tricks! Adding additional featur es to your Harmony 1100i It’s possible that a device’s commands are not r ecognized by your Harmony 1100i. Maybe you have a very rare device? Or a new one? Although we update our device list r egularly , there ar e always new devices in the market .
26 T ypes of delays or speed set tings If your device doesn’t react to a command f rom the Harmony 1100i, it may be because the delay set ting needs to be adjusted. By default, different devices take differ ent amounts of time to react to a command f rom a remote control.
27 Adjusting the delay between IR commands (speed set tings) If you nd the delay between IR commands is too long, especially when changing channels on your T V , you can change the delay time for a device that is reacting too slowly . The Harmony 1100i uses several different delays to control your devices.
28 Maintaining your Harmony 1100i After you nish making any changes to your Harmony 1100i conguration, you should test the new setup to ensure every thing is working the way you expect. This testing process is the same as the one you did when you set up your Harmony 1100i for the rst time.
29 T roubleshooting pr oblems with your Harmony 1100i In this section, you’ll nd some commonly reported issues and the suggested solutions. These solutions may help you x problems you’re experiencing. If you still cannot x the problem, refer to Get ting help with your Harmony 1100i .
30 The On Demand command isn’t on the Harmony 1100i for the W atch T V Activity . Y ou can map the command to any unused but ton on the Harmony • 1100i or on the remote’s scr een. The command is likely in our database, but wasn’t mapped to the Activity .
31 Figuring out which inputs your system uses One of the most impor tant par ts of creating Activities f or your Harmony remote is determining which inputs your system uses for each device. This chapter gives you some suggestions on how to gure out which inputs your entertainment system uses if you’re not sure.
32 Option 3 — Select the input from an on-scr een menu In this case, your device uses an on-screen menu from which you can select the input you want. When you press the sour ce but ton, the menu appears on your T V screen. Then, you use another but ton on the remote to choose the input you want, and then a third but ton to select the input .
33 Step 2 — Watch the T V In this step, you must use your T V’s original remote control to switch between inputs. Using your T V’s original remote, select each input one-at-a-time. 1. For each input, note which device appears to be connected to that input.
