When iP od touch is locked, nothing happens if you touch the screen. Y ou can still listen to music and adjust the volume using the buttons on the side of iP od touch.

Chapter 3 Basics 28 Notications T o help mak e sure you don ’t miss important events , many iP od touch apps can pro vide aler ts. An alert can appear br iey as a banner at the top of the screen, which goes a way if you don ’t respond t o it, or as a notice in the cent er of the screen that remains until you acknowledge it.

4 35 Siri What is Siri? Siri is the intelligent personal assistant tha t helps you get things done just by talking. Siri understands natural speech, so you don’ t have to learn specic c ommands or remember keywords. Y ou can ask things in di erent ways.
Chapter 4 Siri 36 Using Siri Starting Siri Siri comes to lif e with the press of a button. Start Siri: P ress the Home button until Siri appears. If you didn ’ t turn Siri on when you set up iP od touch, go to Settings > General > Siri. Y ou’ll hear two quick beeps and see “ What can I help you with?” on the screen.
