5 TRANSIENT VOL T AGE SURG E SUPPRESSI O N (T VS S) AND EMI /RFI FIL T ERS These UPS compon ents prov ide surge prote c t ion, and fi lter both electro- magnet ic i nt erference (E MI) an d radio frequency interference (RFI ) . T hey minimize any surge s or interferen c e present in t he m ains li n e and keep the sens itive equi pment protected.

9 T ower UP S In stallatio n When using the G XT 2U in a tower c onfiguration, use the includ ed support bas e (as shown) to sta- biliz e the UPS. If any additional cabi nets are added, th e y will include s pacers to ac comodat e t h e additional cabinets.

12 3. Unpack the (2) S lide Assem- blies and mounting hardware from this kit. T he S l ide Assemblies are interc hange- able between left-hand or right-hand.
13 6. Install the Slide Assemblies , with a t tac hed M o unting Brackets from Step 5, i nt o t he Ra ck Enclosure and Screws provided in t h is k i t. The return flanges on the Mo unting Brac kets and O uter Members fit to the inside of t he Rac k Mount i ng Rails.

17 AC Input Indicator L E D (Green) The AC Input indi c ator LED is illuminat ed when mains po wer is a vailable and within t h e i nput specifications.

19 NORMAL MODE OPERA TION During normal op eration, mains provi d es energy to t he UPS. T he filt e r s , power factor correction circuit and the inverter p r o c e ss this power to pro- vide computer grade power to connected loads. The UPS maintains t h e batteries in a f ul ly c harged stat e.
20 For battery run times, refer to the B at tery Runt ime Charts in this ma nual. These times are appro x i mates based o n resistive load and a n am bient tempera t ure of 25° C (77° F).
21 Comm unicat ions In terface P o rt The UP S tat ion GXT 2 U UPS contains a s tanda r d DB-9 serial port f e male connect or l ocated on the rear of the UPS uni t . S everal signals are pro- vided on this port a nd are assigned as follows: *Max imum voltage and current on pins 1,7,8,9 is 8 0V DC; 1 0.
22 Pin 4 - Re mot e shu tdow n on B a t t er y 1. This pin is only fun c t ional if the UP S is in ba ttery mode. If t he UPS is being po wered b y the mains (PFC on), t hen pin 4 wil l ign ore a ny sig- nal on t h is pi n. 2. Pin 4 requ ires a 5-12 V DC s i g nal t o s hutdown.
23 Several option cards are av ail a ble for use in the I ntellislot bay of the UPStation GXT 2U. T he Intell is lot S NMP/Web Card provi des SNMP a nd web-based m onitoring and control of the UPS across the network.

25 This is a new feature inc luded with the new UP Station GX T 2U line of UPS. Sev eral U PS settings t hat were previously not available, or requi r e d custom m anufacturing, may now be m odified us ing this program. For most users, the factory default se t tings will be a dequate.

The batteries are valve r e gulated, non s pi ll ab le, flame retardant, l ead acid, a nd should be kept c harged t o obtain the ir designed life.
