Operation 39 5.0 O PERATION 5.1 Introduction Liebert’s NX™ Uni nterruptible Power System system provides continuous, high-quality AC power to your business-critical equi pment, such as telecomm unications and data processing equip ment.
Operation 40 5.1.2 St atic T ransfer Switch The circuit blocks labeled Static Switch in Figure 27 contain el ectronically controlled switching cir- cuits that enable the critical load to be connected to either the inve rter output or to a bypass power source via the static bypass line.
Operation 41 5.1.4 Redundant Control Power Supply Board The UPS is equipped with two identical and full y redundant control power supply boards. Each of them takes inputs from the AC and DC sources. When one of the sources or eve n if one of the control power boards fails, the UPS syste m can still operate normally.
Operation 42 5.2.1 Features of NX Multi-Module UPS Configurations 1. The hardware and firmware of single module UPS units is co mpletely compat ible with the requirements of a multi -module system. Multi-mo dule conf iguration is ach ieved merely through settings in configuration software.
Operation 43 5.3.4 Byp ass Mode If the inverter overlo ad capacity is exceeded, or if the inverter becomes unavailable for any reas on, the static transfer switch will perform a transfer of the load from the inverter to the bypass source, with no interruption in power to the critical AC load.
Operation 44 5.4 Battery Management—Set During Commissioning 5.4.1 Normal Function • Constant charging current— Current can be set up to limit charging power. • Constant boost voltage boost (if applicable ) — Voltage of boost charging can be set as required by the type of battery.
Operating Pro cedures 45 6.0 O PERATING P ROCEDURES 6.1 Introduction The NX can operate in any of four modes , as shown in Table 9 . This section provides instructions on switching between modes, resetting the UPS, switch ing the inverter On and Off and perf orming other operations.
Operating Pro cedures 46 6.2 UPS St artup The NX must be fully installed and commissioned be fore startup, and external power isolators must be closed. Once those general conditions are met, the UPS may be started. 6.2.1 St art-Up Procedure To start the UPS f rom a fully powere d-down condition : 1.
Operating Pro cedures 47 5. Turn the rotary switch to NORMAL, then press the INVERT ER ON control button for 2 seconds. The inverter will start and the inve rter indicator will flash green. After the inverter is ready, the UPS transfers from bypass to inverter, the bypass indicator turns off and the inverter and load indicators turn on.
Operating Pro cedures 48 6.3 Switching the UPS from No rmal to Maintenance Byp ass Follow the procedure below to transfer the load fr om the inverter output to the Maintenance Bypass line of the UPS. This procedure assumes that UPS is operating normall y.
Operating Pro cedures 49 6.5 Powering Down the UPS a nd Maintaining Power to Load If the UPS needs to be shut down completely while maintaining powe r to the load, follow these steps: 1. Perform Steps 1 through 5 in 6.3 - Switching the UPS from Normal to Maintenance Bypass .
Operating Pro cedures 50 6.6 Emergency Shut down With EPO This circuit has been de signed to switch off the UPS i n emergency conditions (i. e., fire, flood, etc.). The system will turn off the rectifie r, inverter and stop powering the load immediately (including t he inverter and by pass), and the batte ry stops charging or discharging.
Operating Pro cedures 51 6.9 Language Selection The LCD menus and data display are availa ble in 12 languages: Chinese, Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese, Ru ssian , Spanish and Swedish. To sele ct a different language tha n the one being displa yed: 1.
Operating Pro cedures 52 6.12 Isolating One Mod ule in a Multi-Module System 1. With all UPS modules in the system in Norm al mode, open the ex ternal output isolator. 2. Press the UPS EPO to isolate the batteries. 3. Open the UPS door to ga in access to the main power switches SW1 and CB1.
Operating Pro cedures 53 6.13 In serting One Module into a Multi-Module System This procedure is indicated to reintegrate a UPS modu le that has been previous ly isolated from other modules of a group of parall eled UPS modules.
