Installation 8 4.0 I NST ALLATION 4.1 P REP A RATION 1. Visually inspect the UPS for fr eight damage. Report damage to the carrier and your local deal er or Liebert representative. 2. Decide where to place the GXT 2U. Install the UPS indo ors in a controlled environment, where it ca nnot be accidentally turned off.
Installation 9 4.3 R ACK -M OUNT UPS C ONVERS ION AND I NSTALLATION 1. For slide rail installations, first remove the top/side fin. Slide the top/side fin forward, then lift it up to remove. I f desired, install the optional rack mount handles th at were shipped wi th the UPS.
Installation 10 3. Determine the height positio n in side the rack enclosure where you want to mount the UP S or battery cabinet. Install rear member of each bracket assembly into rack enclosure with two (2) M5 screws provided in this kit. (See figure at right.
Installation 11 5. Prepare the UPS o r battery cabinet (the “equipment”) for rack mounting by following instructions in the equipment’s user manual. The equipment may require addi tional parts to be added or pa rts to be removed for rack mounting.
Installation 12 8. Secure front of the equipment to rack mounting rails to prevent the equipment from sliding out of positi on. If secu ring holes are provided on front of the equipm ent that align with the center holes on return flange of front member s, you can use the four (4) extra M5 screws provided in this kit to secure the equipment.
Installation 13 4.4 E XTERNAL B AT TERY C ABINET I NSTALL ATION Optional Liebert external battery cabinets may be connected to the UPS to provide additional battery run ti me. External battery cabinets are designed to be placed all on one si de of the UPS or stacked beneath the UPS.

Operating Instructions 17 6.0 O PERATING I NSTRUCTIONS 6.1 N ORMAL M ODE O PERATION During normal operation, utility power provides energy to the UPS. The filters, power factor correction circuit and the inverter process this power to provide computer grade power to connected loads.
Operating Instructions 18 6.3 B ATTERY M ODE O PERATION Battery mode occurs in event of an extreme input voltage condition or com- plete utility failure. The battery system supplies power through the DC to DC converter to the inverter to generate power for the connected load.
Communications 19 7.0 C OMMUNICATIONS 7.1 C OMMUNICATIONS I NTERFACE P ORT The UPStation GXT 2U UPS has a standard DB-9 serial port female connector located on the rear of the UPS unit. Several signals are pro- vided on th is port and are assigned as follows: * Maximum voltage and current on pins 1, 7, 8, and 9 is 60 VDC; 10.
Communications 20 7.2 P INS 4 & 5 - R EMOTE S HUTDOWN ON B ATT ERY 1. This pin is function al only when the UPS is in battery mode. If the UPS is bein g powered by the utility , Pin 4 will ignore any signal on this pin. 2. Pin 4 requires a 5-12 VDC signal to shutdown.
Communications 21 7.3 P INS 5 & 6 - A NY -M OD E S HUTDOWN 1. Pin 6 of the 9-pin communication connector is used for “Any-Mode Shutdown” of the UPS output. This control input may be used in special applications to disable the UPS outpu t power—both Inverter and Bypass.
Communications 22 7.4 UPS I NTELLIGENT C OMMUNI CATIONS The UPStation GXT 2U is equipped with an Intelli slot ® port to pro- vide advanced communication and monitoring options. Liebert’s MultiLink software cont inually monitors the UPS and can shut down your computer or server in the event of an extended power failure.
