Don ’ t lift it b y y ourself . 1U ndo the clips on the outside of the printer box. 2 Lift the box, uncovering the printer. If pos si ble , g et a not her p ers on to help y ou .
4 Remove the packing tape from the outside of the printer. The r e are f i v e piece s of tape attached at v ari ous points on the printer . 5 Open the fuser access door and remove the two orange spacers from inside. 6 Open the paper cassette and remove the cardboard packing material.
7S lide the paper cassette back into the printer. 8 Open the front door and remove the shipping screw. The sc re w is enc ased in a n ora ng e pl asti c sh eath.

Inst a llin g t h e f u s e r o il b o t tl e 1T ake the bottle of fuser oil out of the printer setup kit. 2 To remove the seal from the bottle, pull the orange tab.
4 Install the oil bottle. IMPORTANT If any fu ser oil sp ills on the floor , c lean it up immediate l y with paper to we ls . Th e oil i s very s lippery . 5C lose the cover over the fuser oil bottle. Gently tip the bottle upside down and slide it into the compartment.

2 Open the disposal box cover. Move the disposal box cover to the left. The photoconductor cartridge goes here. 13 Setting Up the Color LaserWriter 12/600 PS.
3H olding the orange tray, line up the top of the photoconductor cartridge with the tracks at the top of the opening in the printer. Line up the arrow on the photoconductor cartridge with the arrow above the compartment opening. The top of the photoconductor cartridge slides on these tracks.
4S lide the photoconductor cartridge all the way into the receptacle. Sa ve the ora ng e tra y i n c ase y ou e v er n eed to remo v e the phot o c onduct or f or troub leshoot i n g . When the photoconductor cartridge is most of the way in, you can remove the orange tray.
5M ake sure the photoconductor cartridge latch is in the locked position. Push the photoconductor cartridge until this latch is in the locked position.

7 Raise the transfer drum lever to lock the photoconductor cartridge in place. 8C lose the disposal box cover. Now go on to install the t on er c ar tri dg es .

2P ress the knob that rotates the carousel and turn the knob clockwise. Pre s sing t h e knob release s the loc king mec ha nism s o the car ousel c an tur n . Pro b l em ? If y ou try t o tur n the knob , but it w on ’ t tur n, y ou ha v en ’ t pres sed the knob f ar enou gh to re lease the c arou sel.
3 Turn gently until the carousel locks into a new position. As y ou r otate the c arou sel t hrou gh all f our posit ions , the tab co lors c y c le from ma genta (p i nk) to c y an (blue) t o ye llo w to b lac k. Cartridge carousel cycle Yellow Cyan Magenta Black Notice that the color of the tabs has changed.
4T ake the toner cartridge out of its packaging and remove the two pieces of packing tape. Choose the t on er c olor t hat matche s the co lored tabs bes ide t h e op ening in th e c a rousel . 5D istribute the toner powder. Gently rock the toner cartridge back and forth.
23 Setting Up the Color LaserWriter 12/600 PS 6 To remove the sealing tape, grasp the orange plastic tab and pull it away from the cartridge. 7 Insert the toner cartridge into the carousel. Align the arrow on the toner cartridge with the arrow on the carousel.
8A fter you insert the toner cartridge all the way, push firmly to lock it in place. If y ou don ’ t pres s fir ml y enou gh t o i nstall the c ar trid g e cor rec tl y , you w on ’ t be able t o rotate t h e c arou sel and i nstall another c ar trid g e .

4S lide the paper under the bracket at the front of the cassette. WARNING Ne v er load a c as sette with paper of t h e wr on g s ize or typ e . Doi ng so ma y cau se a pap er jam, dama ge t h e pri nter drum, or use t oner unneces saril y . Load three-hole punched paper with the holes toward the back of the cassette.
5S lide the cassette into the printer. Full Empty Push the cassette in all the way. It should be flush with the printer. Paper level indicator 28 Chapter 1.

2 Use the parallel cable to connect the computer to the printer. 3C heck to make sure the port selected in the dialog box matches the one you connected the printer to. Open t h e C ontro l P an els , then open the Pri nters c ontrol panel and chec k the settin g s i n t he Setup Printer dial og .

7I n the Installer dialog box, click the Install button. The Ins t aller tak es a f e w moments t o cal cul ate what needs to be done a nd th e n b e gins t o i nstall f iles . 8 Follow the instructions on the screen until the installation is complete.
