Use To Create shortcuts on t he printer home screen, with sett ings fo r up to 25 freq uently used copy, fax, or e- mail jobs. To use the a pplicatio n, touch MyShort cut , and then follow the inst ructions on th e printer display.
Use To Scan a document and send it to a shar ed networ k folder. You can define up to 30 u nique folder destinations. Notes: • The printer must have permission to write to the destinations. From the computer where the destination is specified, use sh aring, securi ty, and firewall setti ngs to allow the pri nter at least a write access.

8 Conne ct the p ower c ord to the printer , then to a p roperl y grou nded electrical outlet, and then turn o n the print er. Notes: • When the print er so ftware and any har dware opt ions ar e install ed, you m ay need to manually a dd the options in the p rinter drive r to ma ke them av a ilable for print jobs.

Networking Notes: • Purchase a Ma rkNet TM N8352 wireless networ k adapter befor e setting up th e printer on a wireless netwo rk. For informati on on ins talling the wireless net work adap ter, see th e setup sheet th at came wit h the adapt er. • A Servic e Set Id entifier (SSID) i s a nam e assigned to a wirel ess netw ork.
• Security M ethod —Ther e are f our ba sic op tions for S ecuri ty M ethod : – WEP k ey If your network uses more t han one WEP key, then enter up to four in the provided spaces. Select the key current ly in us e on th e net work by selecti ng th e defaul t WEP transm it key.
Use To Searc h for net works Show availabl e wireless connections. Note : This menu shows all broadcast secured or unsecured SSIDs. Enter a network name Manually type the SSID. Note : Make sure to type the correct SSID. Wi ‑ Fi Protected Setup Connect the printer to a wireless network u sing Wi ‑ Fi Prot ected Setup.
Connec ting the p rinter to a wirele ss network us ing the Embedded Web Se rver Before you be gin, ma ke sure t hat: • Your pr inter is conn ected tempor arily to an Eth ernet n etwork . • A wireless network ada pter is instal led in your pr inter and working properly.
Verifying printer setup When all ha rdwar e and soft ware opt ions are instal led and the print er is turne d on, ve rify th at the pr inter is set up correc tly by printin g the followin g: • Menu set ting s page —Use this p age to veri fy that a ll pr inter option s are in stall ed cor rectly.
Loading paper and specialty media The sele ction and h andlin g of paper and specialt y media ca n affect how reliably do cument s print. For mor e informati on, see “Avoiding jams” on page 207 and “St oring paper ” on page 56 .

A 4 LT R E X E C B5 A 5 4 Flex the sheets ba ck and forth to loosen t hem, and then fan them. Do n ot fold or crease t he paper. Straighten the edges on a level su rface. 5 Load th e paper stack. Notes: • Load with the printable side facedown when using recycled or preprinted paper.
• Load letterh ead faced own, w ith the top edge of th e sheet tow ard the fron t of the tr ay. For tw o ‑ sided printing, load letterhead faceup with th e bottom edge of th e sheet toward the fro nt of the tray. • Mak e sure the pap er is below th e maxim um paper fi ll indic ator l ocated on the side of t he width guide.
Loading the multipurpose feeder Use the multipurpose feed er when printing on different paper sizes and types or specialty media, such as card stock, transpar encies, paper labe ls, and en velope s. You can a lso use i t for sin gle ‑ page prin t jo bs on lette rhe ad.
b Pull the extender gently so that the mu ltipurpose feeder is fully extended and open . 2 Squeeze the tab on the left width guide, and then move th e guides for the pap er you are loading. 3 Prepare the paper or specialty media for loading. • Flex sheets of pap er back and forth to loos en them, and then fan them.
• Flex the stack of envelopes back and forth to loo sen them, and then fan them. Straighten the ed ges on a level surf ace. 4 Load th e paper or sp ecialty medi a.
Note: When lo adi ng A6 ‑ size pap er, make sure the multipur pose feeder extender res ts lightly against the edge of the pap er so that the last few sh eets of paper remain in place. • Load let terhea d faceu p with th e top edg e entering the pr inter first.
• Load envelopes with the flap on the left side facedown. Warn ing— Poten tial Dama ge: Ne ver use envelopes with stamps , clasps, snaps, windows, c oated lini ngs, or self ‑ stick adhe sive s. These e nvelope s may sev erely damage the prin ter.

Paper and specialty media guide Notes: • Make sure that t he paper s ize, type, and weight are set correctly on the c omputer or control panel. • Flex, fan, and straighten specialty media before loading them. • The printer may print at a reduced speed to prevent damage to the fuser.
• To opti mize perfor mance and minim ize jam s, do not us e enve lopes th at: – Have excessive curl or twist – Are stuck togethe r or dam aged in any wa y – Have wind ows , holes , per for at.
When p rinting on card stoc k: • Make sure the Paper Type is Card Stock. • Select th e appr opriat e Paper Tex ture setting . • Be awar e that pr eprintin g, perf oration, and crea sing ma y signifi cantly affect th e print qu ality and c ause jam s or other pa per handl ing p robl ems.
Store p aper in it s origi nal wrapp er in the same en vironme nt as th e printe r for 2 4 to 48 hou rs be fore prin ting. Extend the ti me t o seve ral days if t he sto rage or tra nspor tati on env iro nment is ve ry dif fer ent fro m the p rinte r e nviron men t.
While no blanket statement can be made that all recycl ed paper will feed well , Lexmark co nsistent ly t ests pap ers t hat represent recycled cut si ze copier papers available on the gl obal market. This scienti fic test ing is conduct ed with rigor and disci pline.

Use To Verify Job Expirati on Print one c opy of a print job and ho ld the remainin g copies. It lets you ex amine if the firs t copy is satisfa ctory or not. The prin t job is automatica lly deleted from the printer memory when al l copies are printed.

Paper Saver This o ption lets yo u pri nt two or more pages of an o riginal docum ent on the same pa ge. Paper Saver i s also calle d N- up printing where N stands for the nu mber of pages . Fo r exam ple, 2-u p would pr int two pages of your d ocumen t on a single pag e, and 4-u p would print four pages of your docum ent on a s ingle pag e.

Scenario 3: VoIP telephone service To conn ect: 1 Connect one end o f the tel ephone c able tha t came with the print er to t he port o f the printer. 2 Connect the other en d of the cable to the port labeled Phone Line 1 or Phone Port on the VoIP adapter.
Scenario 4: Digital telephone service through a cable provider Setup 1: Printer is connected directly to a cable modem 1 Connect one end o f the tel ephone c able tha t came with your pr inter to the port of the pri nter. 2 Connect the other en d of the cable to the port labeled Phone Line 1 or Phone Port on the cable mod em.
