Co nnect ing the pri nte r i n coun tri es tha t us e se ri al con nect i on In some countr ies or regions , you need to plug all de vices i nto the wall jack. Y ou cannot plu g a teleph one or answe ring machin e into the port of the printer. Th is is called serial c onnection.
Connecting the printer to a wall jack in G erman y The Ger man wall j ack has two kind s of port s. The N por ts are for fax mac hines, mode ms, and answ ering machine s. The F port is for tele phones . NF N Connec t the p rinter to any of the N ports.
Entering your user i nformation Your user informat ion includes your name or your compa n y na me, yo ur fax num ber (your f ax number is you r teleph one numbe r, unless you have a dedicate d fax te lephone l ine), an d the time and date on your f ax m achine w hen a transmiss ion is made.

Fro m her e You c an Dialing and S ending • Set your fax name and f ax number. • Adjust the dialing volum e. • Set the dial me thod, redial t ime, n umber of redial attempts, diali ng prefix, and f ax sending speed. • Convert sent faxes i nto modes that receiving fax machines recognize.

If you cr eate a con tact lis t in the p rinter con trol pan el, then the fa x software auto mati cally saves th ose contact s as Speed Dia l entries.

How do I s et the dis tinctiv e ring for th e print er? Settin g the correc t ring is im portant if you subscri be to the Distin ctive Ring Pa ttern Detecti on (DRPD) feature off ered by telepho ne compani es. This f eature allo ws you to have multiple telephone nu mbers on o ne telephone line.
How do I ad just the spea ker volu me on the pri nter? Listen to the dial tone to check if the teleph one line is working and to check if the cables and devices ar e connected properly i n your telephone net work. Make s ure that the dial in g vol ume is no t set to Off, es pecially if you are dialing a number o n hook.
