3 Step 1: Install paper options and printer The tab le il lustr ates v arious combinati ons of pape r option s supported by y ou r printer . Installing th e 2000-sheet drawer Y o ur printer supports one 2000-s heet dr a wer . It giv es y our pri nter added ca pacity b y le tting y ou load up to four reams (ap proximatel y 2,00 0 sheets) of 20 lb .

6 Setting up the printer In orde r to ensure ad equate cle arance when install ing sys- tem boar d option s, see “ Install memory and op tion c ards ” starting on page 10 bef ore y ou posi tion the printer if : • Y ou pl an t o in stal l mem or y or o ptio n c ards and • Y ou will ha v e less than 6 05.

11 3 Press down on the s ide doo r lat ches and open t he side d oor. 4 Loosen, but do not r emove, th e six screws on th e shield . Y ou need a small P hillip s scre wdriv er to lo osen these scr ews . Note: Screws are us ed to give added protection against mem or y theft.

13 Installing an optional firmware car d F ollo w the i nstructio ns in this sectio n to insta ll an opti onal firmwar e card. The sys tem board has one locat ion where a firmwar e card can be inst alled. W arning! Option al firmware cards are easily dam- aged b y st atic electricit y .
14 Installing an option card Y ou r printer has two con nector s that supp or t the f oll owing optio n card s: • Hard disk w ith a dapt er car d • MarkNet int ernal print server • USB/P arallel.

Save the packagin g materi als. 5 Align the c onnecti on po ints o n the card wi th the connect or on the sy stem board and push the car d firml y into th e system boar d connector .

17 Step 3: Load print material Complete these i nstructio ns to load pri nt material into an y of t he stand ard or opt ional t ra ys . All paper tr a ys are load ed in the same wa y . 1 Remov e the paper tr a y. 2 Pull t he width guide tab and slid e the width guid e to the fa r right side of th e tray.

21 Step 5: V erify printer setup T urning on th e printer 1 Plug one end of t he printer powe r cor d into the soc k et at the bac k of the prin ter an d the othe r end into a pr operly gr ounded ou tlet.
22 1 Press Menu until you se e Utili ties Men u, and th en press Select . 2 Press Menu until you see Pr int Net Set up, and t hen press Select t o print t he page. The netw ork setu p page prints and the print er retur n s to Ready stat us. 3 Check the f irst sec tion on the net work setu p page and con firm that Status is “ Connect ed.
23 Step 6: Configure f or TCP/IP If y ou ha v e TCP/IP av aila ble on y our netw ork, we recom- mend that you a ssign an IP address t o the printe r . Setting the prin ter IP address If you r network is using DHCP , an add ress is auto matical ly assigne d.
24 6 Change the address by pressing Menu to increase (or de crease) eac h number. Press Select to move to the ne xt segment . Press Select when you are finis hed. The messag e Saved appears bri efly . 7 Press Men u until you see Set IP Netmask, and t hen press Select .
