Chapter 1. Product description The Lenovo C500 projector can be used for both business pr esentations and home entertainment and is easy to connect, use, and maintain. Some main features of this pr ojector are: v Bright (3200 lumen) and brilliant images from the DLP technology and XGA-native r esolution.
Packing checklist In addition to this user ’s guide, your option package contains the following: 1 Projector with lamp housing and lens cap 2 Remote control 3 Tw o AAA batteries .
Important: v A void using the pr ojector in dusty environments v Leave the power cable plugged in (for 2-5 minutes) until the projector r eturns to room temperature before placing the pr ojector inside the soft case.

Chapter 2. Setting up the projector This chapter provides information on positioning the pr ojector , connecting a computer source, using the projector with Micr osoft W indows, and displaying and adjusting a computer source image.
8. When the ″ Power off ″ message appears, pr ess the Power button again to switch off power . Note: This operation can be cancelled by pressing a button other than the Power button.

Adjusting the projector level and height To adjust the projector level and height, complete the following pr ocedure: 1. To raise the height of the pr ojector A , lift the projector and pr ess the height-adjuster buttons B . The leveling legs C drop down.
K eystone V o lume Mute 4. If you press the keystone buttons on the pr ojector or remote, the keystone control appears. 5. Use the up/down buttons to adjust the keystone. Note: The C500 Projector featur es automatic keystone correction. For more information, see Chapter 5, “On-screen Display menu contr ols,” on page 5-1.
3. Press the Mute button (on the r emote control only) to turn off the volume. Pr ess the Mute button again to turn off mute. The On-scr een Display displays when Mute is activated.
Chapter 3. Connecting devices to the projector This chapter provides information on connecting devices to the C500 pr ojector . Connecting devices Computers and video devices can be connected to the projector at the same time. Check the user ’s manual of the connecting device to confirm that it has the appropriate output connector .
Connecting to a USB device To control your computer mouse using the pr ojector remote contr ol, connect the projector to the computer with a USB cable as shown below . Note: The USB mouse function is only supported with Microsoft ® W indows ® 2000 and W indows XP operating systems.
Chapter 4. Using the projector features This chapter provides information on using the r emote control, audio, keypad buttons, and other projector featur es.

Chapter 5. On-screen Display menu controls This projector has an On-scr een Display that lets you make image adjustments and change various settings. Note: Yo u must have a display on the screen in or der to access the On-screen Display .
Quality menu The Quality menu can be found through the main menu. To access the Quality menu, 1. Press the Menu button to open the On-scr een Display . 2. Press the left or right cursor button to move to the Quality menu. 3. Press the up or down cursor button to move up and down in the Quality menu.

Item Description Default User Color This feature adjusts the color balance in each color of RGB (r ed, green, blue) and their neutral colors (cyan, magenta, yellow , white) by using color correction adjustment. Incr easing a color ’s setting heightens the intensity of that color on the screen, while a lower setting makes a color less intense.
5. Press the up or down cursor button to select a color . Pr ess the left or right cursor button to change values for settings and then press Enter to confirm the new setting. 6. If you wish to cancel all changes made within the User color menu, select Cancel and press the Enter button.

Chapter 6. Remote network operation This section provides information on using the r emote network with your pr ojector . Network setup When connected to a local area network (LAN) thr ough the RJ-45 connector , the projector can be controlled r emotely through a We b browser by any of the clients (PCs connected to the LAN) on the LAN.
C500 Ethernet operation Ensure that the pr ojector is connected to the network, that the Control option in the On-screen Display menu is set to RJ45, and that the Network Settings in the On-screen Display ar e correct. Please see the Setup Menu section in Chapter 5, “On-screen Display menu contr ols,” on page 5-1 for mor e information.
The Projector Remote Contr ol window provides similar functions as the hand-held projector r emote control. Click the corr esponding button in the remote control window to perform the same function as you would with the hand-held projector r emote. See Chapter 4, “Using the r emote control” on page 4-1, for more information.
The default value for security in the Administrator Settings window is set to Disabled . If the security state is changed, the browser needs to be closed and a new session started. If security is Enabled when the browser session first starts, the following window displays: In the Administrator window shown above, the User Name admin is fixed.
The Network Settings window is used to enable or disable DHCP . If DHCP is enabled, the window shows the values assigned by the DHCP server . If a static IP address is used, enter values for the IP address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway , and DNS Server appropriate for your network.
Updating Ethernet firmware To update the firmware that contr ols the Ethernet functions of the projector , begin by downloading the revised firmwar e to a computer on the network, and then click the Firmware Update link.
When the projector is r eady , click the Continue button to go to the next window . In the Firmware Update window , click the Browse button to open a file selection dialog window . Navigate and select the revised firmwar e file. Note: Ensure that you select the corr ect file.

Appendix A. Maintenance This chapter provides information on pr ojector maintenance. Cleaning the lens To clean the lens, complete the following procedur e: 1. Apply a non-abrasive camera lens cleaner to a soft, dry cloth. Note: A void using an excessive amount of cleaner , and do not apply the cleaner directly to the lens.

6. Reverse steps 1 through 5 to install the new lamp module. Resetting the lamp After replacing the lamp, you should r eset the lamp hour counter to zer o. Please follow the steps below . 1. Press the Menu button to open the On-scr een Display . 2. Press the left or right cursor button to move to the Information menu.
Using the security slot The projector has a security slot, as shown. Refer to the information that comes with the lock for instructions on how to use it.
Appendix B. T roubleshooting The following table provides tr oubleshooting information for the pr ojector . In some cases, more than one possible solution is provided. Tr y the solutions in the order they are pr esented. When the problem is solved, you can skip the additional solutions.

Appendix E. Lenovo Statement of Limited W arranty LSOL W -00 05/2005 Part 1 - General T erms This Statement of Limited Warranty includes Part 1 - General T erms, Part 2 - Country-unique T erms, and Part 3 - Warranty Information. The terms of Part 2 r eplace or modify those of Part 1.
If the Machine does not function as warranted during the warranty period, contact a Service Provider . If you do not register the Machine with Lenovo, you may be r equired to present pr oof of purchase as evidence of your entitlement to warranty service.
