3 Chapter 1 Finding a Loca tion for th e Printer Dock ! Allow 5 inches (12. 7 cm) clearance on all sides of the printer dock. ! Place the pri nter dock on a f lat, clean, dust - free surface, out of di rect sunlight. ! Make sure airflow around th e top and back is not blo cked.
4 Chapter 1 Installing the Camera Insert The printer dock comes with a universal camera insert inst alled, wh ich is used to fit the camera to the pri nter dock. T he universal insert is use d with mos t cameras. If your camera comes with a custom insert, use that one instead of the universal insert.
5 Chapter 1 Connecting the Power CAUTION: Use only th e AC adapte r and power cord in cluded with th e printer doc k. Other adapters and co rds can dama ge your came ra, prin ter doc k, or co mputer . IMPORT ANT : Remove your ca mera fr om th e printer dock when you are connecting power .
6 Chapter 1 Handling and Storing the Color Cartridge ! For best quality prints, store the cartridge in a location where the temperature does not exceed 85 ° F (30 ° C). ! T o avoid fingerp rints, handle the color cartridge by the spool ends. ! Store the color cartridge away from direct sunlight.

9 Chapter 1 Inserting the Paper T ray 1 Open the paper t ray door . 2 Replace the prot ective cap on the front of the paper tray t o c atch th e com plet ed pr ints . 3 Slide the paper tray in until t he tray lo cks into place. NOTE: Keep the protect ive cap on the paper tray at all times .
10 Chapter 1 Indicator Lights and Bu ttons The lights and buttons on the pri nter dock in dicate the status of the print er dock and the camera, as well as printing opt ions based on the configuration of your camera. For T roub leshooting in formation, see Printer Dock Stat us Lights, page 45 .

12 Chapter 2 Setting Picture Quality Use your camera’ s Quali ty setting to select your picture resolution. See your camera user’ s guide for details on setting picture quality . ! Best (3:2) (DX4530 only)—a voids cropping and maxi mizes print quali ty .

14 Chapter 2 Docking and Charging the Camera Docking your camera lets you print directly from the camera, transfer pictures from the camera to the computer , and charge the camera battery . 1 Make sure the battery is installed in the camera. See your camera user’ s guide for deta ils.
15 3 P rinting W ithout a Comput er Printing from Your Camera 1 Make sure the AC power cord is connected and t he color cartridge and paper are loaded (see Chapter 1, Getting Started with Y our Prin ter Dock ). 2 T ake a pictu re with you r camera. 3 Place the camera in the printer dock (see Chapter 2, Gettin g Start ed with Yo u r C a m e r a ).
16 Chapter 3 5 Press the Print butt on. Printing starts. The paper cycles four times during the printing process before the finished print is ejected. Each of the first three p asses place s a layer of color (cy an, yellow, and magen ta). The fourth pa ss plac es a clear co ating t hat prot ects and preserves the image quality.
17 Chapter 3 Canceling Printing ! Press and hold the Print butto n for 5 seconds. The print job is immediately canceled and ejected into the paper tray. If you cancel a prin t during the fourth pass (clear co at), the print is ejected u pon completion.

38 Cha pt er 6 Paper stops traveling before print is completed. The removable tabs may be missing, causing the paper to misfeed. Remove the paper tray and make sure removable tabs are attached. Reload with new paper if n ecessary ( page 8 ). Print is scratche d along the length of th e print.
