2 Introduction 7 Important cautions Installation of the system • Select a place which is le vel, dry and neither too hot nor too cold; between 5°C and 35°C. • Leave suff icient distance between the system and the TV . • Do not use the system in a place subject to vibration.
3 About discs This system has been designed to play back the following discs: D VD V IDEO, D VD A UDIO, V ideo CD (VCD), Super V ideo CD (SVCD), Audio CD (CD), CD-R and CD-R W . • This system accommodates the NTSC and P AL s ystem. When you play an NTSC disc with the scan mode set to “ PA L ” ( A pg.
About discs 4 Notes on MP3/WMA/JPEG/MPE G4 discs • MP3/WMA/JPEG/MP EG4 discs (eithe r CD-R or CD-R W ) require a longer readout time. (It dif fers due to the complexity of the directory/file configuration.) • When making an MP3/WMA/JPEG /MPEG4 dis c, select ISO 9660 Lev el 1 or Lev el 2 for the disc format.

CAUTION • Do not expose batteries to heat or flame. Operating the system from the remote control Aim the remote control directly to the front panel of the center unit.

Connections 11 NOTE • Although the satellite speakers and the powered subwoofer are magnetically shielded, the TV screen may appear mottled. In this case, keep enough distanc e between the speakers and the TV. • T he speakers are magnetically shielded to avoid color distortions on TVs.
Connections 12 NOTE • T he way of connecting th e system cord varies depending on the type of the powered subwoofer. Y ou can enjoy the sound of an analog component. NOTE • T he signals input to the VIDEO jack of the VCR IN jacks will be output only from the VIDEO jack of the VIDEO OUT jacks, not from the S-VIDEO jack of the VIDEO OUT jacks.
