8 Continued Connecting Other Equipment Y ou can connect audio equipment—used only as a playback device. • DO NO T connect any equipment while the po wer is on.
9 Connecting a Computer This unit is equipped with a USB A UDIO terminal on the front panel. Y ou can connect your PC to this terminal and enjoy sound reproduced through your PC. When you connect your PC for the f irst time, follow the procedure belo w .
10 Common Operations Tu rning On or Off the Power To turn on the unit, press ST ANDBY/ON (or on the unit) so that the ST ANDBY lamp goes of f. To turn of f the unit (on standby), press ST ANDBY/ON (or on the unit) again so that the ST ANDBY lamp lights up.
11 Reinforcing the Bass Sound Press SUBWOOFER LEVEL + or – (or SUBWOOFER +/– contr ol on the unit) to increase or decr ease the subwoofer sound. •T he subwoofer le vel can be adjusted in 3 steps (OFF , S.WOOFER1, S.WOOFER2 ). The SUBWOOFER lamp also lights up.
12 Selecting the Sound Modes Y ou can select one of the 6 preset sound modes (3 surround modes and 3 SEA—Sound Ef fect Amplif ier—modes). On the r emote control: Press SOUND MODE r epeatedly until the sound mode y ou want appears on the display . •F irst time you press the button, the current sound mode appears on the display .
13 Listening to the Radio 2 Press SET/RESUME on the r emote control. 3 Press the number button(s) to select a preset number . Ex.: For preset number 5, press 5. F or preset number 15, press +10 then 5. F or preset number 20, press +10, then 10. F or preset number 25, press +10, +10, then 5.
14 Playing Back CDs This unit has been designed to playback the follo wing CDs: • Audio CD • CD-R (CD-Recordable) • CD-R W (CD-ReWritable) • MP3 disc (MP3 files recorded on a CD-R or CD-R W) *.

16 Basic CD Operations While playing a disc, you can do the follo wing operations. To exchange CDs during playback of another Press 0 on the unit. The carrousel comes out. If you change discs during play , the current play will not stop until all discs you hav e changed are played.
17 Tu rning On or Off the Resume Play for MP3 Disc F or MP3 disc, this unit can memorize the position on a disc where you interrupt playback. By pressing CD 6 , you can start playback again from the interrupted position—Resume play . Y ou can turning on and off Resume play for MP3 discs.
18 Programming the Playing Order of the T racks —Program Play Y ou can arrange the order in which the tracks play before you start playing. Y ou can program up to 32 tracks. Program play is not a vailable to MP3 discs on this unit There may be a malfunction in case that you try to do such playback.
19 Playing at Random—Random Play The tracks of the selected CD will play at random. •T o use Random pla y , you ha ve to cancel Program play . On the r emote control ONL Y : 1 Load a CD . 2 Pr ess one of the disc n umber b uttons (CD1, CD2, or CD3) f or the disc you want to play , then press 7 .
20 2 Press CLOCK/TIMER again. “ON TIME” appears for 1 second, then the unit enters on-time setting mode. 3 Set the on-time y ou want the unit to tur n on. 1) Press ¢ / ¡ or 4 / 1 to set the hour , then SET/RESUME. 2) Press ¢ / ¡ or 4 / 1 to set the minute, then SET/RESUME.
21 6 Pr ess ¢ / ¡ or 4 / 1 to select the preset station number or disc tray n umber , then SET/RESUME. • Select “P- - -” or “DISC -” for the last selected stration or disc tray number . The unit enters volume setting mode. 7 Pr ess ¢ / ¡ or 4 / 1 to set the volume le vel.
22 Action Press DEMO on the unit. (See page 8.) Check all connections and make corrections. (See pages 6 to 9.) Tu rn off the recei ver once, then turn it on ag ain and restart application installed in the PC. Check if the volume is set at lo w lev el.
23 Maintenance To get the best performance of the unit, keep your discs, tapes, and mechanism clean. Handling discs • Remove the disc fr om its case by holding it at the edge while pressing the center hole lightly . • Do not touch the shiny surface of the disc, or bend the disc.
