4 Getting Started Eng lish Using the Rem ote Control The Remote Control makes i t easy to use many of t he functions of t he System from a distan ce of up to 7m away. You need to point the Remote Contr ol at the r emote sensor on the Sy stem’s front pan el.
5 Getting St arted Eng lish Connect ing the AM Ante nna Rear Panel of the Unit • Even when connecti ng an outs ide AM an tenna, keep th e indoor AM loop con nected. CAUT ION: • To avoid noise, keep antennas away from the System, the connecting cord and the AC power cord.
6 Getting Started Eng lish Connecting Exte rnal Equipment Connect a signal cord with ster eo mini plugs (not supplied ) between the System’s AUX IN jack on the fron t panel and th e audio o ut put ja ck or output te rminals of the external portable CD, MD player , STB, etc.
7 Eng lish Basic Operations ) Turning the Power On and Off Turning the System On 1 Press the STANDBY /ON button. The disp lay comes on. The STANDB Y indica tor goes ou t. The System comes on re ady to contin ue in t he mode it was in when the power was last turned off.

9 Eng lish Using the Tuner You can listen t o FM a nd AM stations. Station s can be tune d in manually, automat ically, or from pres et memory storage. ❏ Before listeni ng to th e radio: • Make sure that bot h the FM an d AM antenn as are correct ly connect ed.

13 Using the CD Play er Eng lish Basics o f Using the CD Player- Normal Play To Play CDs 1 Load CDs. 2 Press CD 6 button to play. The cur rentl y select ed disc number (e.g. “C D DISC 1” ) ap- pears on the displa y. The first track of the selected CD begins playing .
14 Using the CD Pla yer Eng lish Programmi ng the Playing Order of the Tr acks You can pr ogram the playi ng order o f the tra cks on all the CDs. Note th at you can only mak e a progra m when t he CD Playe r is stoppe d. ❏ You can pr ogram up to 32 tracks in any desired or der includi ng the same tracks.
15 Using the CD Play er Eng lish Random Play The tracks of the sele cted CD will pl ay in no spe cial order when you us e this mod e. 1 In Stop mode, set the CD Player in R andom Play mode. On the Remote Control ONLY Press the PROGRAM/RANDOM button until th e “RANDOM” indicat or lights u p.
16 Eng lish Using the Cassette Deck (Listening to a Tape) The Casse tte Deck al lows you to play, record , and dub au dio tapes. ❏ Listening to type I ta pe is suitab le for this Cassette Deck. One Touch Play By pres sing th e TAPE A 3 o r TA PE B 3 button, th e System will come on , and if a tape is in t he deck , it will start to play .
17 Eng lish Using the Cassette De ck (Reco rding) Recording on to a cassette from any of the sound sources is simple. Just place a tap e in Deck B, have the source ready, make o ne or two settings , and you’re ready to record. For each source , the pro- cedure is a little bit diffe rent so we ex plain each se parately.
18 Using the Casse tte Deck (R ecording) Eng lish Standard Re cording This is th e basic meth od for recordi ng any source. The System al so has sp ecial ways for recor ding C D to tape , and ta pe to ta pe, whic h save you ti me and effor t, as well as give yo u some special effects.
19 Eng lish Using an External Equipmen t Listening to th e External Equipment You can list en to the externa l equipment such as MD recorde r, cas- sette de ck, or oth er auxi liary. ❏ First, make sure that the e xternal equi pment is prop erly conn ect- ed to t he Syst em.
20 Eng lish Using the Timers Three type s of timers are av ailable: DAI LY T ime r Use this timer to set wake up everyday to music fro m any sourc e, instead of a n alarm cl ock. REC (Recording) Timer Unatt ended r ecording of radio broadca sts. You c an set t he star ting time and ending time.
21 Using the Ti mers Eng lish Setting t he Daily Timer Once you hav e set the Daily Timer, the timer will be activ ated at the same tim e every da y. The Timer in dicator ( ) and “DAIL Y” indicator on the displa y shows that the Daily Timer you have set is in effect.
22 Using t he Timers Eng lish Preparation for each m usic sour ce: Perform the foll owing oper ation accordin g to the music sour ce you have selected. Th en, the Syste m enters Volume S etting mode. When selecting T UNER FM or TUNER AM: Press the ¢ or 4 button to select th e preset station numbe r, then pres s the SET/DI SPLAY butto n.
23 Using the Ti mers Eng lish Using t he Unit You can set the time in the same way as for setting the Daily Timer. 1 Insert a blank or erasable tape into the Deck B and wind past the tape leader. 2 Press the CLOCK TIMER butto n until “ON TI ME” immedia tel y aft er “REC ” appear s on th e dis play.
24 Using t he Timers Eng lish Setting the SLEEP Timer Use th e Sleep Ti mer to turn the Syst em off after a certain nu mber of minutes when it is playing . By setting the Sleep Timer, you can fall asleep to music and know that your S ystem will turn off by it- self rather t han play a ll night.
25 Eng lish Care And Main tena nce Handle y our CDs and ta pes carefully , and th ey will last a long time. Compact Discs CAUT ION: • Do not use any s olvent (f or example , conv en- tional re cord clean er, spray t hinner, ben zine, etc.) to cle an a CD.
