7 ENGLISH RADIO OPERA TIONS Listening to the radio Y ou can use either automatic searching or manual searching to tune in to a par ticular station. Searching a station automatically: Auto search 1 Select the band (FM1 – 3, AM). Each time you press the button, the band changes as f ollows: Note: This r eceiver has three FM bands (FM1, FM2, FM3).

9 ENGLISH Manual preset Y ou can preset up to 6 stations in each band (FM1, FM2, FM3, and AM) manually . Ex.: Storing FM station of 92.5 MHz into the preset number 1 of the FM1 band. 1 Select the band (FM1 – 3, AM) you want to store stations into (in this e xample, FM1).
10 ENGLISH RDS OPERA TIONS What you can do with RDS RDS (Radio Data System) allows FM stations to send an additional signal along with their regular programme signals . For e xample, the stations send their station names, as well as inf ormation about what type of programme the y broadcast, such as spor ts or music, etc.

12 ENGLISH Using PTY Standby Reception PTY Standby Reception allo ws the unit to switch temporarily to your f av or ite programme (PTY : Programme T ype) from the current source (another FM station or CD). • PTY Standby Reception will not work if you ar e listening to an AM station.
13 ENGLISH Searching your favorite programme Y ou can search any one of the PTY codes. In addition, you can store y our 6 fa vorite programme types in the n umber buttons. When shipped from the f actor y , the follo wing 6 programme types ha ve been stored in the number b uttons (1 to 6).
14 ENGLISH • If there is a station broadcasting a programme of the same PTY code as you selected, that station is tuned in. • If there is no station broadcasting a programme of the same PTY code as y ou selected, the station will not change. Note: In some ar eas, the PTY sear ch will not work corr ectly .

20 ENGLISH Playing a CD T ext In a CD T e xt, some inf or mation about the disc (its disc title, perf or mer , and trac k title) is recorded. This CD T e xt information will be shown automatically when y ou play a CD T e xt. T o change the CD T ext inf ormation manually , select text displa y mode while playing a CD T ext.
21 ENGLISH MP3 INTRODUCTION Precautions when recording MP3 files on a CD-R or CD-RW This unit can only read MP3 files that are recorded in the f or mat that is compliant with ISO 9660 Le vel 1, Le vel 2, or Joliet. How are MP3 files recorded and played back? MP3 “ files (trac ks) ” can be recorded in “ f olders ” —in PC terminology .

Check the cords and connections. While holding SEL (select), press (standb y/on/ attenuator) f or more than 2 seconds to reset the unit.
37 ENGLISH Remedies Change the disc. Add the e xtension code — mp3 to their file names. Change the disc. (Record MP3 files using a compliant application.) Skip to another file or change the disc. (Do not add the e xtension code — mp3 to non- MP3 files.
