2 ENGLISH How to reset your unit After detaching the control panel, press the reset button on the panel holder using a ball-point pen or a similar tool. This will reset the built-in microcomputer . Note: Y our pr eset adjustments—such as pr eset channels or sound adjustments—will also be erased.

ENGLISH 5 Remote controller 3 • Selects the preset stations while listening to the radio . Each time you press the b utton, the preset station number increases, and the selected station is tuned in. • Skips to the first file of the previous f older while listening to an MP3 disc.
ENGLISH 6 Preparing the remote controller Before using the remote controller: • Aim the remote controller directly at the remote sensor on the main unit. Make sure there is no obstacle in between. • Do not expose the remote sensor to strong light (direct sunlight or ar tificial lighting).
7 ENGLISH 3 Adjust the v olume. 4 Adjust the sound as you want. (See pages 28 – 31.) Note: While playing a sour ce, you can also show the level meter on the display .
8 ENGLISH T o dr op the volume in a moment Press briefly while listening to any source. “A TT” star ts flashing on the display , and the volume le vel will drop in a moment. T o resume the previous v olume lev el, press the button briefly again. • If you turn the control dial, you can also restore the sound.
9 ENGLISH Setting the clock Y ou can also set the clock system to either 24 hours or 12 hours. 1 Press and hold SEL (select) for more than 2 seconds so that one of the PSM items appears on the displa y . (PSM: see pages 39 and 40.) The next-step-oper ation buttons start flashing.
10 ENGLISH RADIO OPERA TIONS Listening to the radio Y ou can use either automatic searching or manual searching to tune in to a par ticular station. Searching a station automatically: Auto search 1 Select the band (FM1 – 3, AM). Each time you press the b utton, the band changes as follo ws: Note: This r eceiver has three FM bands (FM1, FM2, FM3).
11 ENGLISH 3 T une in to a station you want while “Manual Sear ch” is flashing. • If you release y our finger from the button, the manual mode automatically turns off after about 5 seconds. • If you hold down the b utton, the frequency keeps changing (in 50 kHz intervals f or FM and 9 kHz for AM) until y ou release the button.

The source changes to the previously selected source. • If you change the source or turn the power off , CD pla y also stops (without ejecting the CD).
17 ENGLISH Selecting CD playback modes T o play back tracks at random (Disc Random Play) Y ou can play back all trac ks on the CD at random. 1 Press M (MODE) while playing a CD . “Mode” appears on the display . The next-step-oper ation buttons star t flashing.

19 ENGLISH Prohibiting disc ejection Y ou can prohibit disc ejection and can lock a disc in the loading slot. While pressing CD/CD-CH (LINE), press and hold for more than 2 seconds. “ No Eject ” flashes on the display for about 5 seconds, and the disc is lock ed and cannot be ejected.
20 ENGLISH MP3 INTRODUCTION How are MP3 files recorded and played back? MP3 “ files (tracks) ” can be recorded in “ folder s ” —in PC terminology . During recording, the files and folders can be arranged in a wa y similar to arranging files and folders of computer data.
21 ENGLISH MP3 folder/ file configuration : Root : Folders : MP3 files MP3 playback/search order • The numbers in circles below the MP3 files ( ) indicate the playback order and search order of the MP3 files. Normally , this unit pla ys back MP3 files in the recorded order .

28 ENGLISH SOUND ADJUSTMENTS Adjusting the sound Y ou can set the speaker output balance, subwoof er output lev el, and input lev el of each source. • There is a time limit in doing the follo wing procedure. If the setting is canceled bef ore you finish, star t from step 1 again.
29 ENGLISH • T o adjust the input le vel of each source —V ol Adj: This setting is required for each source except FM. Bef ore making an adjustment select an appropriate source for which y ou want to mak e an adjustment.

32 ENGLISH GRAPHIC DISPLA YS What is Image Converter? Image Conv er ter is a JVC’s original software to produce customiz e images to be shown on your JVC Car Audio .
33 ENGLISH Downloading images and animations Before starting the following procedure , prepare a CD-ROM including still images (pictures) and animations (movies). • The supplied Image Converter CD-ROM includes sample images and animations, so you can use this disc as your first trial.
34 ENGLISH 5 Select (highlight) one of the listed items for whic h you want to download a file. • P owerOn : Opening screen T o download an animation to be shown after the unit is turned on. (Y ou can store only one animation consisting of a maximum of 30 frames.

43 ENGLISH Selecting the dimmer mode Y ou can dim the display at night automatically or as you set the timer . Note: Auto Dimmer equipped with this unit may not work corr ectly on some vehicles, particularly on those having a contr ol dial for dimming.
44 ENGLISH Changing the display color Y ou can set the display color using the PSM control. Y ou can select your f avorite color f or each source (or for all sources).
45 ENGLISH Creating your own color—User Y ou can create your own colors—“Da y” and “Night, ” and select them as the displa y color for any desired source. • Day: Can be used as your user color during the day time (while the headlights are tur ned off).

When detaching or attaching the control panel, be careful not to damage the connectors on the back of the control panel and on the panel holder . 48 ENGLISH CD CHANGER OPERA TIONS Playing discs Select the CD changer (CD-CH). * W ithout connecting the CD changer , you cannot select “CD-CH” as the sour ce to play . • When the current disc is an MP3 disc: Playbac k star ts from the first folder of the current disc once file check is completed.

57 ENGLISH TROUBLESHOOTING What appears to be trouble is not alw ays serious. Chec k the following points bef ore calling a ser vice center . Remedies Adjust it to the optimum le vel. Check the cords and connections. Press the reset button on the panel holder after detaching the control panel.
58 ENGLISH Remedies Change the disc. Add the extension code — mp3 to their file names. Change the disc. (Record MP3 files using a compliant application.) Inser t a disc that contains files encoded in an appropriate format. Skip to another file or change the disc.

How to handle discs When removing a disc from its case, press down the center holder of the case and lift the disc out, holding it by the edges.
