6 ENGLISH Preparing the remote controller Before using the remote controller: • Aim the remote controller directly at the remote sensor on the main unit. Make sure there is no obstacle in between. • Do not expose the remote sensor to strong light (direct sunlight or artificial lighting).
7 ENGLISH T urning on the power 1 T urn on the power . Note on One-T ouch Operation: When you select a sour ce in step 2 below , the power automatically comes on. Y ou do not have to pr ess this button to turn on the power . 2 Select the source. T o operate the tuner (FM or AM), see pages 9 – 13.
8 ENGLISH Changing the display pattern Y ou can change the displa y patter n. The number of the selectable displa y patterns varies according to the pla yback sources .
9 ENGLISH RADIO OPERA TIONS 200W 1000 D- FM1 FM2 FM3 AM Listening to the radio Y ou can use either automatic searching or manual searching to tune in to a par ticular station. Searching a station automatically: Auto search 1 Select the band (FM1 – 3, AM).
10 ENGLISH If the sound quality decreases and the stereo effect is lost while listening to an FM station In some areas, adjacent stations ma y interf ere with each other . If this interf erence occurs, this unit can automatically reduce this interf erence noise (the initial setting when shipped from the f actor y).
11 ENGLISH Manual preset Y ou can preset up to 6 stations in each band (FM1, FM2, FM3 and AM) manually . Ex.: Storing an FM station of 88.3 MHz into the preset number 1 of the FM1 band. 1 Select the band (FM1 – 3, AM) y ou want to store stations into (in this example, FM1).
12 ENGLISH T uning in to a preset station Y ou can easily tune in to a preset station. Remember that you must store stations first. If you hav e not stored them yet, see “ Storing stations in memory ” on page 11. Selecting a preset station directly 1 Select the band (FM1 – 3, AM).

14 ENGLISH CD OPERA TIONS 200W 1000 D- Playing a CD 1 Open the control panel. 2 Insert a disc into the loading slot. The unit turns on, dra ws a disc and star ts playbac k automatically . 3 Close the control panel by hand. The opening displa y then source name displa y appears first.
15 ENGLISH Locating a track or a particular portion on a CD T o fast-for ward or reverse the track T o go to the next or previous tracks Press 4 briefly , while pla ying a disc, to go back to the beginning of the current track. Each time you press the button consecutiv ely , the beginning of the previous tracks is located and play ed back.
16 ENGLISH T o play back tracks repeatedly (Repeat Play) Y ou can play bac k the current trac k repeatedly . 1 Press MODE (M) to enter the functions mode while pla ying a disc. “Mode” appears on the display . 2 Press RPT (repeat), while “Mode” is still on the display , so that the RPT indicator is highlighted on the displa y .
17 ENGLISH Notes: • When the disc title/performer is shown, the DISC indicator lights up. When the trac k title is shown, the TR indicator lights up. • If the information cannot be shown at a time, it will scr oll on the display . Some char acters or symbols will not be shown (will be blanked or substituted) on the display .
18 ENGLISH 2 Adjust the level. While adjusting fader and balance —Fad, Bal: Y ou can make these two adjustments at the same time, b y referring to the indication on the displa y . • Press 5 or ∞ to adjust the f ader . • Press ¢ or 4 to adjust the balance.
19 ENGLISH Selecting preset sound modes (iEQ: i-equalizer) Y ou can select a preset sound mode suitable to the music genre . • There is a time limit in doing the follo wing procedure. If the setting is canceled bef ore y ou finish, star t from step 1 again.
20 ENGLISH 4 Make adjustments as y ou like, referring to the table “ Sound adjustment items. ” 1) Press ¢ or 4 to select the frequency band — Lo w , Mid, or High. 2) T urn the control dial to select the center frequency f or the selected band. 3) Press 5 or ∞ to adjust the level of the selected band.
21 ENGLISH Activating the level meter Y ou can show the le vel meters on the displa y while pla ying any source. This unit is equipped with three le vel meter patterns. • There is a time limit in doing the follo wing procedure. If the setting is canceled bef ore y ou finish, star t from step 1 again.
22 ENGLISH OTHER MAIN FUNCTIONS 4 Adjust the PSM item selected. 5 Repeat steps 2 to 4 to adjust the other PSM items if necessary . 6 Finish the setting. T o set clock— Clock Hr , Clock Min Y ou can set the clock using the PSM control. 1 Press and hold SEL (select) for more than 2 seconds so that one of the PSM items appears on the displa y .
23 ENGLISH Preferred Setting Mode (PSM) items The PSM items are grouped into fiv e categories —“ Disp (display), ” “ Cloc k, ” “ T uner , ” “ Color , ” and “ A udio . ” T o select a desired item, first select the categor y where the desired item is listed.
24 ENGLISH T o select the scroll mode — Scroll Y ou can scroll the disc inf or mation if it cannot be displa yed at a time. • Once: Scrolls only once.
25 ENGLISH Changing the display color Y ou can set the display color using the PSM control. By selecting “ Source ” for “ Mode, ” you can select your f av orite color for each source (or f or all sources). Note: When selecting “ User , ” you can cr eate your own color as you like.
26 ENGLISH Selecting or creating your own color — User Y ou can create and store your o wn colors —“ Day ” and “ Night, ” and select one of them as the displa y color for an y desired source. • Day: Can be used as your user color during the day time (while the headlights are tur ned off).
27 ENGLISH 7 Adjust the selected user color . 1) Press ¢ or 4 to select one of three primary colors— “Red” “Green,” and “Blue.” 2) T urn the control dial to adjust the selected primary color . Y ou can adjust within the range of 0 to +11.
28 ENGLISH 4 Select a character . • About the av ailable characters, see page 37. 5 Move the cursor to the next (or previous) character position. 6 Repeat steps 3 to 5 until you finish entering the name. 7 Finish the procedure while the last selected character is flashing.
29 ENGLISH Attaching the control panel 1 Insert the right side of the control panel into the groo ve on the panel holder . 2 Press the left side of the control panel to fix it to the panel holder . Note on cleaning the connectors: If you frequently detac h the contr ol panel, the connectors will deteriorate .
30 ENGLISH CD CHANGER OPERA TIONS W e recommend that you use one of the CH-X series with your unit. If you ha ve another CD automatic changer , consult your JVC car audio dealer f or connections. • F or example, if your CD automatic chang er is one of the KD-MK series, you need a cor d (KS-U15K) for connecting it to this unit.
31 ENGLISH Selecting a disc T o go to a particular disc directly Press the number button corresponding to the disc number to start its playback (while the CD changer is playing). • T o select a disc number from 1 – 6: Press 1 (7) – 6 (12) briefly .
32 ENGLISH T o select a disc using the disc lists If you f orget what discs are loaded in the CD changer , you can sho w the disc title list and select a disc on the list shown on the displa y . • The display can sho w only six disc names at a time.
33 ENGLISH T o play back only intros (Intro Scan) Y ou can play bac k the first 15 seconds of each trac k sequentially . 1 Press MODE (M) to enter the functions mode while playing a disc. “ Mode ” appears on the display . 2 Press INT (intro), while “ Mode ” is still on the display , so that the INT indicator is highlighted on the display .
