3 English About discs This system has been designed to play back the f ollowing discs: DV D V I D E O, DV D A U D I O , V C D, S V C D, C D This system can also play bac k the follo wing discs: • Finalized D VD-R/RW discs recorded in the D VD VIDEO f or mat.
4 Introduction English DVD VIDEO A D VD VIDEO consists of “titles” and each titl e ma y be divided in to “chapters”. DVD AUDIO A D VD A UDIO consists of “groups” and each group ma y be divided into “tracks”. Some discs include a “bonus group” that requires a passw ord for pla ying ( A page 28).
5 English This system is compatible with P AL and NTSC color systems. In standby mode , select P AL or NTSC to match you r TV . If the VIDEO OUT SELECT s witch is s witched ov er when the power is ON, turn off the power , and then turn it on again.
6 Introduction English The numbers represent the page numbers. * Connect a pair of headphones (commercially av ailable) with a stereo mini plug. If the headphones are connected, the speakers and subw oof er will not produce any sound. Fr ont panel PHONES Pla y/Pause:13, 15 Look at “Display window” below .

11 Connecting up Connection English This page is for when connecting the main unit with other de vices . Connecting subwoofer Connecting with other audio device When you w ant to hear sound from the subw oofer , press S.WFR OUT on the remote control to display “SUB WFR ON” (Sub Woofer ON) on the di splay window on the main unit.
12 Connecting up Connection English CAUTION Connect the main un it directly with a TV (or a monitor) without routing through a VCR. Otherwise it may cause picture disto rtion while playing. Also, whe n connec ting the mai n unit to a TV w ith a VCR bui lt in, there may be picture distortio n while playing.
