11 1 Preparing and using for the first time E The wat er volume is given as standard in ‘ oz’. Y ou can change this setting to ‘ml’ in progr amming mode (see Chapter 4 ‘Permanent settings in progr amming mode – Unit for amount of wat er’).
12 1 Preparing and using for the first time T Open the filter holder and inser t the filter cartridge into the wat er tank, exerting slight pressure. T Close the filter holder . It will click into place audibly . E After three months, the filter will cease to work.
13 1 Preparing and using for the first time Milk, sparkling mineral w ater or other liquids can damage the w ater tank or the machine. T Only fill the water tank with fresh, cold w ater . T Press the ‘Inactive’ button. T Press the ‘Sav e’ button.

17 2 Preparation 2 Prepar ation Hot coffee , hot steam and hot w ater can cause scalding. Scalding is a serious burn. T Use extreme care when handling hot liquid or steam. T Allow liquid to c ool down before drinking. T In the event of scalding, rinse aff ected area with cold water and seek medical attention.

19 2 Preparation ‘Espresso ’ and ‘Coffee’ are prepared at the touch of a button following this model. Example : Proceed as f ollows to prepare one c offee at the touch of a button. Precondition: ‘Please select product:’ is displayed.

23 2 Preparation It is easy to permanently adjust the amount of wa ter and milk for all product s to the cup size . A djust the amount once as shown in the following ex ample. E v ery time you prepare a drink in the future, this amount will be dispensed.

Y ou should therefore change the w ater daily . When the IMPRESSA is swit ched on, it automatically prompts you to perform the switch-on rinse.
26 3 Daily operation T Wipe the surface of the machine with a clean, soft, damp cloth (e .g. microfiber cloth). E In the interests of hygiene , we recommend c hanging the milk pipe on a regular basis (approx. e very 6 months). Replacement pipes are av ailable from specialized dealers.

E After three months, the filter will cease to work. Set the dat e on the date plate on the filter holder in the w ater tank.
44 5 Maintenance E The wat er may be slightly discolored. This is not harmful to health and does not affect the taste. Rinsing of the filter stops automatically after approximat ely 17 oz (500ml). ‘Please select produc t:’ appears on the display .

The degree of calcification depends on the hardness of your w ater . Non-recommended descaling agents (e.g. vinegar) may contain substances that could damage the machine or leav e residues.
