English – 9 GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS Cutting attachment guar d This guard is intended to pre vent loose objects from being thrown to wards the operator . The guard also protects the operator from accidental contact with the cutting attachment. Check that the guard is undamaged and not cr acked.

12 – English GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS • The fi ling angle is 15 ° . File alternate teeth to the r ight and those in between to the left. If the blade has been hea vily pitted by stones it ma y be necessary to dress the top edges of the teeth with a fl at fi le, in e xceptional cases.
English – 13 ASSEMBL Y Assembling the handlebar and thr ottle (BC 2145) • Remov e the screw at the rear of the throttle handle . • Slide the throttle handle onto the right side of the handlebar , (see diagram). • Align the screw hole in the throttle handle with the hole in the handlebar .
14 – English ASSEMBL Y Assembling the cutting equipment Fitting the blade guar d/combination guar d, grass blade and ball-bearing- mounted suppor t cup • Hang the trimmer guard/combination guard (A) on the two hooks on the plate holder (M). Bend the guard around the shaft and tighten it with the bolt (L) on the opposite side of the shaft.
English – 15 ASSEMBL Y • T ur n the blade shaft until one of the holes in the drive disc aligns with the corresponding hole in the gear housing. • Inser t the locking pin (C) in the hole to loc k the shaft. • Place the blade (D) and support fl ange (F) on the output shaft.
16 – English ASSEMBL Y Adjusting the harness and c learing saw Standar d harness Safety release At the front is an easily accessible , quick release . Use this if the engine catches fi re or in any other emergency situation that requires you to free y ourself from the machine and harness.
English – 17 ASSEMBL Y 4 Adjust the height of the suspension hook as described in the instructions for the standard harness. (Forestry clearing) 5 If you need to lo wer the suspension hook, f or tr imming f or e xample, mov e the suspension strap (A) to the low er mounting point on the backplate .
18 – English FUEL HANDLING Fuel safety Ne ver star t the machine: 1 If you ha ve spilt fuel on it. Wipe off the spillage and allow remaining fuel to e vaporate . 2 If you ha ve spilt fuel on y ourself or your clothes , change your clothes . W ash any part of your body that has come in contact with fuel.
English – 19 FUEL HANDLING Mixing • Alwa ys mix the gasoline and oil in a clean container intended f or fuel. • Alwa ys star t by fi lling half the amount of the gasoline to be used. Then add the entire amount of oil. Mix (shake) the fuel mixture.
20 – English ST AR TING AND ST OPPING Chec k before starting • Check the b lade to ensure that no cracks ha ve f or med at the bottom of the teeth or by the centre hole .
English – 21 ST AR TING AND ST OPPING Start throttle: (FC 2145, FC 2145 S , FC 2145 W , BC 2145) Set the throttle to the star t position by moving the chok e control to the choke position and then returning it to its original position.

English – 23 W ORKING TECHNIQ UES W orking methods • Bef ore you star t clearing, check the clearing area, the type of terrain, the slope of the ground, whether there are stones, hollo ws etc. • Star t at whichev er end of the area is easiest, and clear an open space from which to work.
24 – English W ORKING TECHNIQ UES • Large stems must be cut from two sides . First determine which direction the stem will f all. Make the fi rst cut on the f elling side. Then fi nish cutting the stem from the other side. Adjust the cutting pressure to match the size of the stem and the hardness of the wood.
English – 25 W ORKING TECHNIQ UES Clearing • The clearing technique removes all unw anted vegetation. K eep the trimmer head just above the g round and tilt it. Let the end of the cord strike the ground around trees , posts, statues and the like .
26 – English MAINTENANCE Carb uretor Y our Jonsered product has been designed and manuf actured to speci fi cations that reduce harmful exhaust fumes.
English – 27 MAINTENANCE Fine adjustment of the idle speed T Adjust the idle speed using the idle adjustment screw T , if it is necessar y to readjust. First tur n the idle adjustment screw T clockwise until the cutting attachment starts to rotate. Then turn the screw anticlockwise until the cutting attachment stops.
28 – English MAINTENANCE Adjusting the start throttle speed (BC 2145) The correct star t throttle speed is set by means of an adjuster on the rear of the handle ne xt to the cable. Use this screw (5 mm Allen screw) to increase or decrease the start throttle speed.
English – 29 MAINTENANCE Air fi lter The air fi lter must be regularly cleaned to remov e dust and dir t in order to av oid: • Carburettor malfunctions • Star ting problems • Loss of engine power • Unnecessar y wear to engine par ts • Excessive fuel consumption.
30 – English MAINTENANCE Winter use Running problems can occur when using the machine in the cold and snowy conditions caused b y: • T oo low engine temperature.
