English – 9 GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS Cutting attac hment guard This guard is intended to pre vent loose objects from being thrown to wards the operator . The guard also protects the operator from accidental contact with the cutting attachment. Check that the guard is undamaged and not cr acked.

English – 13 ASSEMBL Y Assembling the handlebar and thr ottle CA UTION! Some models have the throttle handle fitted at the f actor y . • Remov e the screw at the rear of the throttle handle . • Slide the throttle handle onto the right side of the handlebar , (see diagram).
14 – English ASSEMBL Y Fitting the b lade guard/combination guar d, grass blade and ball-bearing- mounted suppor t cup • Hang the trimmer guard/combination guard (A) on the two hooks on the plate holder (M). Bend the guard around the shaft and tighten it with the bolt (L) on the opposite side of the shaft.
English – 15 ASSEMBL Y • T ur n the blade shaft until one of the holes in the driv e disc aligns with the corresponding hole in the gear housing. • Inser t the locking pin (C) in the hole to loc k the shaft. • Place the blade (D) and support flange (F) on the output shaft.

Adjusting the harness 1 Tighten the hip strap so that it sits securely . 2 Tighten the chest strap under y our left ar m so that it fits closely around your body .
English – 17 ASSEMBL Y Correct balance 1 Forestry clearing The machine is balanced by mo ving the suspension ring on the machine f orwards or backw ards. On some models the suspension ring is fixed, ho wev er, this will then ha ve a number of holes f or the suppor t hook.
18 – English FUEL HANDLING Fuel safety Ne ver star t the machine: 1 If you ha ve spilled fuel on it. Wipe off the spillage and allow remaining fuel to e vaporate . 2 If you ha ve spilled fuel on y ourself or your clothes , change your clothes . W ash any par t of your body that has come in contact with fuel.
English – 19 FUEL HANDLING Mixing • Alwa ys mix the gasoline and oil in a clean container intended f or fuel. • Alwa ys star t by filling half the amount of the gasoline to be used. Then add the entire amount of oil. Mix (shake) the fuel mixture.
20 – English ST AR TING AND ST OPPING Chec k before starting • Check the b lade to ensure that no cracks ha ve f or med at the bottom of the teeth or by the centre hole .

22 – English W ORKING TECHNIQ UES General w orking instructions Basic safety rules 1 Look around you: • T o ensure that people, animals or other things cannot aff ect your control of the machine.
English – 23 W ORKING TECHNIQ UES W orking methods • Bef ore you star t clearing, check the clearing area, the type of terrain, the slope of the ground, whether there are stones, hollo ws etc. • Star t at whiche ver end of the area is easiest, and clear an open space from which to work.
24 – English W ORKING TECHNIQ UES • T o fell a tree f orwards, the bottom of the tree should be pulled backw ards. Pull the blade bac kwards with a quick, firm movement. • Large stems must be cut from two sides . First deter mine which direction the stem will f all.
English – 25 W ORKING TECHNIQ UES Grass trimming with a trimmer head T rimming • Hold the trimmer head just above the g round at an angle. It is the end of the cord that does the work. Let the cord work at its own pace. Nev er press the cord into the area to be cut.

English – 27 MAINTENANCE Fine adjustment of the idle speed T Adjust the idle speed using the idle adjustment screw T , if it is necessar y to readjust. First tur n the idle adjustment scre w T clockwise until the cutting attachment starts to rotate.
28 – English MAINTENANCE If the screen is frequently bloc ked, this can be a sign that the perf or mance of the catalytic conv er ter is impaired. Contact your dealer to inspect the m uffler . A block ed screen will cause the machine to ov erheat and result in damage to the cylinder and piston.
English – 29 MAINTENANCE Spark plug The spark plug condition is influenced by: • Incorrect carburetor adjustment. • An incorrect fuel mixture (too much or incorrect type of oil). • A dir ty air filter . These f actors cause deposits on the spar k plug electrodes , which ma y result in operating problems and starting difficulties.
