Intel ® Server Board S5000PAL User’s Guide 9 The NIC LEDs at the right and left of eac h NIC provide the following information. RAID Support The Intel ® Server Board S5000P AL provides an embedded SA T A controller that supports both 1.5 and 3.0 Gbps data transfer rates.
10 Intel ® Server Board S5000PAL User’s Guide Hardware Requirements T o avoid integration dif ficulties and possible board damage, your system must meet the requirements outlined below . For a list of qualified components, see the links under "Additional Informa tion and Software.
Intel ® Server Board S5000PAL User’s Guide 11 Memory The server board provides eight DIMM socket s across two branches, and each branch has two channels. Channel A consists of slots A1 and A2; chann el B consists of sl ots B1 and B2; channel C consists of slots C1 and C2; and channel D consists of slots D1 and D2.
12 Intel ® Server Board S5000PAL User’s Guide Figure 8. Four DIMM Configuration Example In non-mirrored mode, all DIMMs with the same slot number within a given branch must match (size, technology , manufacturer). It is not req uired to match DIMMs between diff erent slot numbers.

14 Intel ® Server Board S5000PAL User’s Guide Intel ® Local Control Panel The Intel ® Local Control Panel provides enhanc ed system control by utilizing a LCD display , which provides additional controls and indicators beyond the standard control panel.
3 Server Utilities Using the BIOS Setup Utility This section describes the BIOS Setup Utility options, which is used to change server configuration defau lts.

4 Hardware Installations and Upgrades Before You Begin Before working with your server product, pay close attention to the “Safety Information” at the beginning of this manual.

When the battery st arts to weaken, it loses voltage , and the server settings stored in CMOS RAM in the R TC (for example, the date and time) may be wrong.

For any issue, first ensure you are using the latest firmware and files. Firmware upgrades include updates for BIOS, the Baseboard Ma nagement Controller (BMC), and the hot- swap controller (HSC).
