1 INTR ODUCTION The InFocus ® LP260™ m ultimedia projector is specificall y designed for the mobile pr esent er . It generates crisp, clear images and is easy to connect, easy to use, easy to transport, and easy to maintai n. NO TE: The pr ojector automati- cally expands 640x480 images to 800x600.

4 Intr oduction Usag e Guidelines • Do not look directly into the projection lens when the lamp is turned on. The bright lig ht may harm your eyes. • Do not block the gril ls on the projector . Restricting the air flow can cause it to over heat and turn of f.
5 SETTING UP THE PR OJECTOR 1 Place the pr o jector on a flat s urface. • The pr ojector must be within 10 feet (3 m) o f your power source a nd within 6 feet (1.8 m) o f your computer . • If you want to project fr om behi nd a translucent screen, set up the pr o jector behind your scr een.
6 Setti ng up the Proj ector NO TE : Bef o re you continue , mak e sure the p rojector and all other equipment is turned o f f. If you’ re connecting a computer , mak e sure the distance betw een it and the pr ojector is 6 f eet or less .
7 Connecting a Computer The following cables can be used to connect a co mputer: NO TE: Many laptop computers do not automatically turn on their external video por t when a sec- ondar y disp lay device such as a pr ojector is connected. Ref er to your computer manual for the command that activates the exter- nal video por t.

9 P o wering up the P r ojector and Adjusting the Ima ge NO TE : Alwa ys use the pow er cor d that shipped with the pr ojector . 1 Remove the lens c ap. 2 Plug the power cord into the side of the pr oj ector, then plug it into your electrical outlet. A surg e-pro tected po wer strip is re commended.
10 Setti ng up the Proj ector 5 T urn on your computer . NO TE : With so me computers , the order in whic h you pow er up the equipment is ver y impor tant. Most computers should be turned on last, after all other per ipherals have been turned on. Ref er to your computer’ s d ocumentation to determine the co rrect o rder .
11 USING THE PROJECTOR This section d escribes how to use and mak e adjustm ents to the pro jector . It also provides a r eferen ce to the keypad and r emote buttons and the opti ons available f rom the on-scr een menus. Adjusting the Ima ge T o focus the image, rotate the focus ring (Figure 7) until t he image is clear .

13 Using the Remote Cont rol T o control the computer ’s mouse from the pr ojector ’s re m ote or keypad, you must connect one o f the Control cables to th e com- puter . See page 7 for details. T urn th e re m ote on using the on/ off button on the si de of the remote.

When you press the center of this button on the remote, it works like the select bu tton.
16 Usin g the Projector Source (keypad only) o r Comp uter and Vi deo ( remote only ) When you have more than one sour ce (computer and video) con- nected to the pr ojector , select between them by pressing the sour ce button o n the keypad or the comput er or video button on the remote.
17 Using the On-Scr een Menus The pr ojector has menus th at allow you to ma ke image adju st- ments an d change a variety of sett ings. Most of these adjus tmen ts aren’t available di rectly fr om the keypad. NO TE: Some me nu items may be gray ed out (dimmed) at cer tain times.
18 Usin g the Projector Comput er A djustm ents Select Computer mode by pr essing the sou rc e button on the key- pad, pr ess ing the compute r button on the re m ote, or clicking th e Computer icon in the menu. When you select Computer , the cur- r ent mode dis play appears, sh owing details of the co nnected computer .
19 2 Pres s the po int down button, move the ar row to the system you want to select, then press the select but ton. These systems ar e set up using the PC Adjustment menu. PC Adj ust ment NO TE: This feature is not avail- able when RGB , HDTV1035i, or HDTV1080i is selected in the Sys- tem menu.
20 Usin g the Projector 3 Move to the parameter you want to change using the poin t up/ down buttons, and a djust each s etting usin g the point ri ght/left buttons. 4 Navigate to “Save” and press the select button. The parameter is memorized in the selected mode.
21 Displa y area The ar ea displayed by the pr o jector . Point the arr ow at the Dis- pla y area o pt ion and press t he se lect button to open a dia log box where you can select the resolution from a list, or adjust the valu e with the left and right point buttons.

31 Contra st The contrast contro ls the degree of differ ence between the lightest and darkest parts of the picture . Adjusting the contrast changes the amount of black and white in the image.

37 WA R N I N G : Be extremely car eful when remo ving the lamp module. In the unlik ely event that the bulb ruptures , small gl ass fragments may be gener ated. The lamp mod- ule is designed to contain these fragments , but use caution when remo v ing the lamp module .

Make sure that the power cord is also properly connected to the projector . • If the pr o jector is plugged into a power strip, make sure the power strip is turned on.
