6 Intr oduction Y our new multimedi a pr ojector provides three computer , three video, and two aud io inp uts, on e audi o output , RS-23 2 control , and ha s XGA 10 24x7 68 resol ution. Optional user -changeable sho rt, fixed sho rt, long an d super long thr ow lenses make th is a flexible pr oduct suitable for many dif ferent uses.
7 Connec tor P anel The pr ojector provid es three computer and three v ideo connection options: • one M1-D (DVI with USB) • one VESA computer • one BNC (RGBH V and Pr , Pb, Y) • one component.
8 P ositioning the pr ojector T o determine where to position the projector , consider the siz e and shape of your scr een, the location of y our power outlets, a nd the distance between the proj ector and the r est of your equipment.
9 Connecting a computer Required compute r connections Connect one end of the VESA c omputer cable to the C omputer 2 co nnecto r on the pr ojector . Conne ct the other end t o the vide o port on your computer . If you are using a desktop computer , you first need to disconnect the moni- tor cable fr om the computer ’s video port.
10 If you are using a desktop computer and want to see the imag e on your computer screen a s we ll as on the projection s creen, plug the monito r cable to the Monitor out conn ect or on the pr ojector . Y ou can also connect to your c omputer using a BNC cable.
11 Displa ying a computer image Remove the lens cap. Press the power switch on the b ack of the project or to the on position , then press t he Po w e r button on the to p of the pr ojector or the remot e. The LED fla shes green a n d the fa ns start to run.
12 First-time pr ojector use with Windo ws 98 The first time you connect a computer running W indows 98 to the projector , the computer recognizes t h e pr ojector as “new har dware” and the Add Ne w H ard w are W i z ard ap pe a rs .

14 Adjusting the imag e Adjust the heigh t of the pr ojector , if necessary , by pres sing the rel ease but- tons on ea ch side of the projector ’s front to ex tend the elevator feet . Position the projector the desir ed distance from t he scree n at a 90 degree angle (perpend ic ular) to t he scr een.
15 Connecting a video de vice Standa rd video co nnection s Plug th e audio/vi deo (A/V) cable’s yellow con nector i nto the v ideo-ou t conn ector on the vid eo dev ice. Pl ug the ot her ye llow co nnecto r into th e yel - low Video 3 connector on the pr oj ector .
16 Y ou can als o connect to your video device us ing a BNC cable. Connect the BNC connectors of the BNC cable t o the appr opriate Computer 3 connec- tors on the projector .
17 Displaying a vi deo image Remove the lens cap. Press the power switch on the b ack of the project or to the on position , then press t he Po w e r button on the to p of the projector . The LED fla shes green a n d the fa ns start to run. When the lamp comes on, the sta rtup scr een is displayed and the LED is s t eady green.
18 Adjust th e zoom or focus b y pr essing the pow er Zoom or power Foc us buttons on the keypad until the desi red im age size and foc us are pr oduced. Y ou can also adjust the zoom and focus via the menus . See page 33 If the image is not on the scr een or viewing area , adjust the it by pre ssing the lens shift butt on on the keyp ad.
19 Shutting do wn the pr ojector The projector automatica lly blan ks the sc reen after no a ctive source is detected for 3 0 minutes. Th is blank screen helps preserve the life of the pro- jector . The image r etu rns wh en an active sour ce is detected or a r emote or keypad b utton is press ed.

27 Using the k eypad buttons Most bu ttons are des cribed in detai l in other sections , but her e is an over- view of the ir functions: pow e r –turn s the projecto r on (pag e 1 1) and of f (pag e 17 ). lens shift –shifts the pr ojected imag e up or down zo om –moves the pr ojected image closer or further away .
28 Using the remote control The r emote uses two (2) pr ovided AAA batteries . They ar e easily installed by slidi ng the cover of f the re mote' s back, aligning the + and - end s of the batteries , sliding them into place, and th en replacin g the cover .
29 Using the audio T o pla y sound from the projector , connec t your so urce to the Audi o In con- nector on the pr ojector . T o adjust the v olume, use the buttons on the keypad or remote. T o adjust the b a lance, or loudness, use the Audi o menu (see page 36).
30 Optimizing computer images After your comput er is connected properly and the computer ’s image is on the scre en, you can optimize the i mage using the onscreen menus. For gen- eral info rma tion on using the menus, see pa ge 32. • Adjus t the Keysto ne, Co ntras t, or Br ight ness in the Pi cture menu .
31 Optimizi ng video imag es After the video device is connected pr operly and the image is on the screen, you can optimize the image using the onscreen menus. For general informa- tion on u sing t h e menus, s ee page 32. • Adju st the K eystone, Contr a st, B r ight ness, Colo r , or T int in the Pictur e menu.
32 Using the menus T o ope n the menus, press the menu b utton on the key pad or r emote. (The menus a u tomatica lly close after 60 seconds if no butt ons are pr essed.) Th e Main menu appears. Use the arrow buttons to move up and down to high - light t h e desir ed submenu, t h en pr ess the Select butt on.
33 Picture menu T o adju st the fol lowing six settin gs, highligh t the setting, pr ess Sele ct , use the up an d down arro ws to adjust the val u es, the n press select t o confirm the c hanges . Zoom : allows you to adj ust a lens to zoom in a n d out.
34 Presets : The pr ovided Preset s optimize the projector for displaying com- puter pr esentations, ph otographs, film images, and video images. (Film input is material origin ally captur ed on a film came ra, like a movie; video input is material origin ally captur ed on a video cam era, like a T V show or sporting event.
35 Advanced settings Sharpness : (video sources only) changes t he clarity of t h e edge s of a video image. Select a s harpness sett ing. Color S pace : This opt ion applies to compu t er and component video sour ces. It al lows you to select a colo r space th at has been s pecifically tuned for the input sign al.
36 Settings menu Audio : allow s adjustments to the Balance a nd V olume. Also allow s you to turn on and off the Intern al speak ers, and projec tor star tup Chime. Sources : allows you to assign a particular in put to a sp ec ific sour ce key when using th e Integ rator remote.
37 Screen Sav e : automat ic ally blanks the screen after no sign als are detected for fiv e minutes. The ima g e r eturns when an active source is detect ed or a remote or key pad button is pr essed. Screen Save is disabled when P ower Sav e is enabled.
38 PiP : (Pictur e in Pictur e) allows you to overlay a sm aller window sh owing the video s ou rce on top of the larger computer source window . Only video sour ces 2 and 3 (composite a nd S-video) support PiP . Y ou must have b oth a computer and video sou rce connected to use PiP .
39 Network : The projector has an RJ45 Ethernet conn ect or that s upports net- work connections and TCP/IP protocols. Th is w ill allow for the control and management of th e projector over a corpora te network. Th e following fields are accessible when DHCP is not checked a nd available for manual e ntry of data.
40 Maintenance NO TE : When you are performi ng maintenance activities on your pr ojector , keep in m ind tha t you sh ould only re m ove screws that ar e single-sl ot, or flathea d, screws. A ny o t her type of screw , suc h as a ph illips or star sh ould not be re moved.
