English – 5 SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS Steps bef ore using a new po wer cutter • Please read the operator’ s manual carefully . • Check the cutting b lade’ s mounting, see the chapter ”Assembly”. • Star t the engine and check the idling setting, see instructions under the heading Maintenance.

English – 7 SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS Thr ottle lock out The throttle tr igger lock is designed to pre v ent accidental operation of the throttle. When the lock (A) is pressed in this releases the throttle (B). The trigger lock remains pressed in as long as the throttle is pressed.
8 – English SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS Thr ottle lock out • Make sure the throttle control is loc ked at the idle setting when the throttle lock out is released. • Press the throttle lock out and make sure it returns to its original position when you release it.
English – 9 SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS Fuel safety (Refuelling/Fuel mixture/Stora ge.) • Ne ver refuel the machine while the engine is running. • Make sure there is plenty of v entilation when refuelling or mixing fuel (gasoline and 2-stroke oil). • Mov e the machine at least 10 ft (3 m) from the refuelling point bef ore star ting it.

Hold it so that the thumbs and fingers grip round the handles. Cutting technique The technique described below is of a general character .
English – 11 SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS How to a v oid kickbac k What is kickbac k? The word kic kback is used to describe the sudden reaction that causes the power cutter and cutting b lade to be thrown from an object when the upper quadrant of the b lade, known as the kickbac k zone, touches an object.

English – 13 ASSEMBL Y Assembling the cutting head Remov e the bolt (1) and nut (2). Remove the guard. Fit the drive belt on the clutch drum. Fit the guard and tighten the screws . Run the drive belt ov er the cutting head’ s belt pulle y (2). P osition the belt guard and secure the cutting head together with the belt guard.
14 – English FUEL HANDLING Fuel CA UTION! The machine is equipped with a two-strok e engine and must alwa ys been run using a mixture of gasoline and two-strok e engine oil. It is impor tant to accurately measure the amount of oil to be mix ed to ensure that the correct mixture is obtained.
English – 15 ST AR TING AND ST OPPING Starting and stopping Starting a cold engine Ignition: Slide the ignition s witch to the left. Choke: Pull the choke control fully out. Start throttle lock: Press in the throttle trigger lock, throttle control and then the star t throttle lock (A).
16 – English MAINTENANCE T ensioning the drive belt • The drive belt is fully enclosed and well protected from dust and dir t. • When tensioning the drive belt, slightly loosen the nuts (A) holding the cutting head and belt guard. • T urn the tension screw so that the nut (B) aligns with the arrow on the guard.
English – 17 MAINTENANCE Fine adjustment of the idle speed T Adjust the idle speed using the T scre w . When an adjustment is necessar y , first tur n the scre w clockwise until the b lade star ts to rotate. Now turn the screw anti-clockwise until the blade stops rotating.
18 – English MAINTENANCE Starter Changing a br oken or worn starter cord • Loosen the screws that hold the starter against the crankcase and remov e the star ter . • Pull out the cord appro x. 30 cm (12 inches) and hook it into the notch in the rim of the pulley .
English – 19 MAINTENANCE Spark plug The spark plug condition is influenced by: • Incorrect carburetor adjustment. • Wrong fuel mixture (too much oil). • A dir ty air filter . These f actors cause deposits on the spar k plug electrodes , which ma y result in operating problems and starting difficulties.
