8 – English GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS Cutting attachment guar d This guard is intended to pre vent loose objects from being thrown to wards the operator . The guard also protects the operator from accidental contact with the cutting attachment. Check that the guard is undamaged and not cr ack ed.
English – 9 GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS In countries that hav e a warm and dr y climate there is a significant risk of fire. We theref ore fit cer tain mufflers with a spark arrestor mesh. Check whether the muffler on your machine is fitted with this kind of mesh.

English – 11 GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS Sharpening the sa w blade • See the cutting attachment packaging f or correct shar pening instructions. A correctly shar pened blade is essential f or working efficiently and to av oid unnecessar y wear to the blade and clearing saw .
12 – English ASSEMBL Y Assembling the handlebar and thr ottle • Remov e the screw at the rear of the throttle handle . • Slide the throttle handle onto the right side of the handlebar , (see diagram). • Align the screw hole in the throttle handle with the hole in the handlebar .
English – 13 ASSEMBL Y Fitting a blade guar d, grass blade and grass cutter • Hook the blade guard/combination guard (A) onto the fitting on the shaft and secure with the bolt. CA UTION! Ensure that the guard e xtension is remov ed. Use the recommended blade guard.
14 – English ASSEMBL Y • When loosening and tightening the saw b lade nut, there is a risk of injur y from the teeth of the saw b lade. Y ou should theref ore alwa ys ensure that your hand is shielded b y the blade guard when doing this . Alwa ys use a sock et spanner with a shaft that is long enough to allow this .
English – 15 ASSEMBL Y 2 Grass clearing The machine should be suppor ted in a harness when grass clearing so that the cutting equipment is parallel to the ground. T riobalance harness Quic k release Push down the red release le ver to release the machine from the harness.
16 – English FUEL HANDLING Fuel safety Ne ver start the machine: 1 If you ha v e spilt fuel on it. Wipe off the spillage and allo w remaining fuel to e vapor ate. 2 If you ha v e spilt fuel on yourself or y our clothes, change your clothes . W ash any part of your body that has come in contact with fuel.
English – 17 FUEL HANDLING Mixing • Alwa ys mix the petrol and oil in a clean container intended f or fuel. • Alwa ys star t b y filling half the amount of the petrol to be used. Then add the entire amount of oil. Mix (shake) the fuel mixture. Add the remaining amount of petrol.
18 – English ST AR TING AND ST OPPING Chec k bef ore star ting • Check the b lade to ensure that no crac ks hav e formed at the bottom of the teeth or by the centre hole .
English – 19 ST AR TING AND ST OPPING CA UTION! Do not pull the star ter cord all the wa y out and do not let go of the star ter handle when the cord is fully extended. This can damage the machine. CA UTION! Do not put an y par t of your body in marked area.
20 – English W ORKING TECHNIQ UES General w orking instructions Basic safety rules 1 Look around you: • T o ensure that people, animals or other things cannot aff ect your control of the machine .
English – 21 W ORKING TECHNIQ UES W orking methods • Bef ore you start clear ing, check the clearing area, the type of terrain, the slope of the ground, whether there are stones, hollo ws etc. • Star t at whichev er end of the area is easiest, and clear an open space from which to work.
22 – English W ORKING TECHNIQ UES • Large stems must be cut from two sides . First deter mine which direction the stem will f all. Make the first cut on the f elling side. Then finish cutting the stem from the other side. Adjust the cutting pressure to match the size of the stem and the hardness of the wood.
English – 23 W ORKING TECHNIQ UES Clearing • The clearing technique removes all unw anted v egetation. K eep the trimmer head just abov e the ground and tilt it. Let the end of the cord strike the ground around trees , posts, statues and the like .
24 – English MAINTENANCE Carb urettor Y our Husqvarna product has been designed and manuf actured to specifications that reduce harmful emissions. After the engine has used 8-10 tanks of fuel the engine will be run-in.
English – 25 MAINTENANCE Fine adjustment of the idle speed T Adjust the idle speed using the idle adjustment screw T , if it is necessar y to readjust. First tur n the idle adjustment screw T clockwise until the cutting attachment starts to rotate. Then turn the screw anticlockwise until the cutting attachment stops.
26 – English MAINTENANCE Muffler CA UTION! Some mufflers are fitted with a catalytic conv er ter . See chapter on T echnical data to see whether your machine is fitted with a catalytic conv er ter . The muffler is designed to reduce the noise le v el and to direct the e xhaust gases aw ay from the oper ator .
English – 27 MAINTENANCE Air filter The air filter must be regularly cleaned to remov e dust and dir t in order to av oid: • Carburettor malfunctions • Star ting problems • Loss of engine power • Unnecessar y wear to engine parts. • Excessive fuel consumption.
