1 1 Introduction Welcome to the bright ne w world of HUAWEI MediaPa d 7 Vogue (HUAWEI MediaPad for short). With HUAWEI MediaPad, you can: > Surf the Internet at lightening-fast speeds. > Take photos and record videos anytime anywh ere. > Enjoy the latest and hottest movies.

3 Installing the SIM and microSD Cards 1. Open the SIM and mi croSD card slot cover. 2. Insert the SIM card with its gold conta cts facing up, a s indicated in the preceding figure. Push t he card inward until it clicks into place. HUAWEI MediaPad is only compatible with standard SIM cards, whose dimensions are 0.
4 To remove the microSD car d when HUAWEI MediaPad is powered on, access the Home screen, and to uch > Storage > Unmount SD card . Then open the microSD car d slot cover and gently push the microSD card. The microSD card then pops out. Charging the Battery 1.
5 Powering On or Off Powering On Press and hold the power key until HUAWEI MediaPad vibrates. If HUAWEI Medi aPad has not b een used for a long time or the battery l evel is low, you may not be abl e to power it on immediately af ter you start charg ing the battery.
6 Touch : Touch an item to select or open it. Double-click : Touch the screen twice consecutively to zoom in. Touch and hold : Touch and hold the screen to display an options menu. Flick : Flick up or down to scroll up or down. Flick left or ri ght to swi tch between scree ns.
7 Unlocking the Screen HUAWEI MediaPad supports multiple screen unlock methods. The default unlock method is used here as an example to illustrate how t o unlock the screen. 1. Press the Power key to wake up the screen. 2. Drag to the right until it r eaches .
8 Home Screen HUAWEI MediaPad has an easy- to-use screen layout. This section describes the screen elements and b asic operations. Notification and Status Icons The notification ba r displays notifi cations and icons to inform you of HUAWEI MediaPad's status.

14 Editing Text You can copy, cu t, and paste t ext using the on screen keyboard. 1. Touch a text field to display beside the cursor. 2. Drag to move the cursor. 3. Touch and hold the the text until and are displayed. 4. Drag and to select more or less text.
15 Android Input Method The following figure is for your reference on ly. The actual keys may look slightly differ ent. 1 > When you type in lower case, touch to capitalize the next lett er to be entered. > When you type in lower case, touch and hold or double-tap to turn on caps l ock.

18 Adding Widgets to the Home Screen You can add widgets, such as the calendar, music pla yer, and weather clock to the Home screen . 1. Touch and hold a blank area on the Home screen. 2. From the displayed options menu, choose Widgets . 3. Touch and hold a widget and drag it to the desired position, and then r elease it.
19 Removing a Home Screen Item You can remove Home screen items you no longer want . Removing an applicati on icon uninstalls the corresponding application . 1. Touch and hold the item you want to delete until HUAWEI MediaPad vibrate s. 2. Drag the item to the trash icon, and then release it.
20 3. Touch . You can have up to six Home screens. Deleting a Home Screen You can delete a Home screen you no l onger want. Note that only blan k Home screens can be deleted. 1. Touch and hold a blank area on the blank Home screen. 2. From the displayed options menu, choose Thumbnails .
21 Customizing the Wallpaper You can set any desired photo as the wallpaper. 1. Touch and hold a blank area on the Home screen. 2. From the displayed options menu, choose Wallpaper .
22 Adjusting the Volume You can set the volume of the tones, multimedi a, alarms, and notificat ions. 1. From the Home screen, tou ch > Sound > Volume . 2. Drag the sliders to adjust the volumes. You can also use the volume keys to adjust the vol ume of running applications.
23 2. From the displayed options menu, choose Local music . 3. Touch the audio file you want, then OK . Adjusting the Screen Brightness HUAWEI MediaPad inco rporates a light se nsor that can automatically adjust the scree n brightness based on the ambient light.
24 Screen Lock Locking the screen prevents your device from ca rrying out undesirable operations when yo u are not using it. HUAWEI MediaPad lets you lock t he screen in a number of ways. 1. From the Home screen, tou c h > Security > Screen lock .
25 5 Intern et Connectio n HUAWEI MediaPad brings you into a new age of wireless Internet surfi ng. Let's take a look at how this works. Wi-Fi Network A Wi-Fi network is a wireless local area network. Wi-Fi devices can maintain a high-spe ed connection to the Wi-Fi network even when they ar e moving.
26 > For an encrypted Wi-Fi network, enter the password when prompted. When HUAWEI MediaPad is con nected to a Wi-Fi netwo rk, you can touch its name to view con nection details, such as the network speed, e ncryption mode, and IP address.
27 Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot If HUAWEI MediaPad has Internet access, it can work as a Wi-Fi hotspot, convertin g mobile signals into Wi-Fi signals and allowi ng Wi-Fi d evices to ac cess the Intern et.
28 4. Touch Portable Wi-Fi hotspot settings > Configure Wi-Fi hotspot . Then follow the onscreen instructions to configure the SSID, password, and other set tings. You can then sear ch for HUAWEI MediaP ad's SSID from Wi-Fi enabled devices to access th e Wi-F i network set up by HUAWEI MediaPad.
29 Sharing HUAWEI MediaPad's Data Connection Connect HUAWEI MediaP ad to a computer using a USB cable. You can then access the Internet from the comput er using HUAWEI MediaPad's data co nnection. To use US B tetherin g, ensure th at your HUA WEI MediaPad has Intern et access.
30 6 Browser The browser lets you su rf the web and browse web pages. Stay on the ball with real-time news and informa tion using your browser. Staying connect ed and browsing the Internet has never been easier. Browsing Web Pages From the Home screen, touch to launch the browser.
31 Downloading a File You can download files, images, and even applications from web pages. The downloaded files will be saved in your HUAWEI MediaPad's interna l memory or the microSD card. For example, to downlo ad an image from a web page, touch and hold the i mage, and choose Save image fro m the displayed options menu.
32 Setting Your Home Page You can set any web page as the home page. 1. From the Home screen, tou c h to launch t he browser. 2. Select > Settings > General .
33 7 Sharing Data HUAWEI MediaPad allows you to share files in a n umber of ways. Sharing data anytime anywhe re means family and friends can share your exper i ences and are always by your side.
34 4. Choose the device with which you want to share the file. > If the desired device is not displayed, t ouch Other devices to enter the Wi-Fi Direct settin gs screen. Touch the desired device to connect to it. > If no Wi- F i Direct co nnection has been set up, HUAWEI MediaPad displays the Wi-Fi Direct settings screen.
35 3. Open the notification, an d touch Accept from the displayed dialog box to receive the file. Respond to Bluetooth pairing or data tran smission requests promptly to avo id connection failure. Connecting to a Computer You can connect HUAWEI MediaPad to a computer to exchange data.

38 Ending a Call To end a call, touch . Rejecting a Call To reject an incoming ca ll, drag to . You can also drag to to reject the call and send a message to the cal ler. Adding an Unknown Number to People 1. From the Home screen, tou c h . 2. From the call log, touch next to the unkno wn number.
39 3. Touch Add to contacts . 4. Touch Create a new contact or an existing contact to save the number. Clearing the Call Log To delete an entry from the call lo g, touch and hold the entry on the Phone screen, and choose Remove from call log from the displayed option s menu.
40 9 Contacts Forget about lu gging around business card holders. With HUAWEI MediaPad, you can store your family and fr iends' contact details ea sily. In addition, its improved import and export functions let you conveniently recover contacts on different devices.
41 If you have not set up the account you want to synchronize with on HUAWEI MediaPa d, touch Add account from the Accounts & sync screen, and follow the onscreen instructions to set up the accoun t. After the account is set up, HUAWEI MediaPad auto matically synchronizes with it.
42 4. Touch Add contact , and select t he contact you want to merge with th e first contact. You can touch next to a joint contact to delete it. Searching For a Contact HUAWEI MediaPad enables you to f ind a contact by entering any contact information, su ch as the phone number or name.

47 To send a multimedia fi le, such as an audio clip, image, or video, as an attachment, open Gallery , select the file you want to send, and touch > Message . Reading a Message 1. From the Home screen, tou c h . 2. Touch the message you want to read.
