With the phone turned off , hold your phone secur ely with the front facing do wn. With y our thumb or finger , lift the back co ver off fr om the small opening on the top of y our phone.

37 Phone calls Using speed dial Use speed dial to call a phone number with a single tap . For e xample, if y ou assign a contact’ s number to the number 2 k ey , you can simply pr ess and hold this ke y on the Phone dialer k eypad t o dial that number .
38 Phone calls Calling a phone number in an email On the main Home scr een, tap Mail . Open the email acc ount where the email with the number is located. In the email acc ount’s inbo x, tap the email to open it. In the email body , tap the phone number .
39 Phone calls Rec eiving calls When y ou rec eiv e a phone call from a contact, the Inc oming call screen appears and display s the caller ID icon, name, and phone number of the calling party .
40 Phone calls Setting y our phone to automatically adjus t the ring v olume Fr om the Home screen, pr ess MENU, and then tap Settings > Sound & displa y . Scr oll down the scr een, and then select Quiet ring on pickup to lo wer the ring v olume whenev er you mo ve or lift up y our phone.
41 Phone calls Using in-call options When a call is in pr ogress, use the butt ons onscreen to mut e or unmute the microphone or t o turn on or off the speakerphone. Y ou can also pres s MENU and choose whether to add a call, mut e the microphone, and mor e.
42 Phone calls Muting the micr ophone during a call On the screen, tap to t oggle between turning the micr ophone on or off . When the microphone is turned off , the Mute icon ( ) appears in the s tatus bar . Ending a call Do one of the follo wing to end the call: On the scr een, tap End call .
43 Phone calls Using Call hist ory Use the Call history t o check missed calls, y our dialed numbers and r eceiv ed calls. Checking a missed call Y ou will see the missed call icon in the status bar when y ou miss a call. 1. Slide open the Notifications panel to check who the caller is.

45 Phone calls Call servic es Y our phone can directly link to the mobile phone netw ork, and enable you t o access and change the settings of various phone servic es for y our phone. 46 People People About People With the People applica tion, y ou can sync your phone with c ontacts from y our Google Ac count, comput er , and Fac ebook. Y ou can also sync with work c ontacts from the Ex change Activ eSync Serv er in y our workplace .

57 P eople People widget Put the group of people y ou contact most right on the Home scr een of y our phone by adding them as the People widget. Using the People widget, y ou can instantly place a call, send a message, or vie w details of a fa v orite contact with a single tap.
58 People Getting in touch with a c ontact On the Home screen, go t o the People widget. T ap a contact (phot o not the name) on the widget. T he default c ommunication method will be performed. If y ou hav e not set a default c ommunication method, you need t o choose one first.

63 K eyboard Finger touch pr ecision Calibra tion tool T ap to r e-calibr ate the k eyboar d touch accur acy . Re-calibrat e the ke yboard if y ou feel that the ke yboard k eys ar e not responding accur ately to y our taps. Reset calibr ation T ap to reset the calibr ation back to fact ory default.
64 Messages Mes sages About Messages K eep in touch with important people in your lif e. Use the Messages application to compose and send t ext (SMS) and multimedia messages (MMS).

88 Social Chatting on or off the r ecord Y our Google T alk messages are st ored, so y ou can re view them later and e ven sear ch for them in the Chats folder in Gmail/ Google Mail. But, if you’ d rather not st ore the messages in a chat, y ou can go off the rec ord.
89 Social Managing y our Friends list A dding a friend Y ou can invite any one with a Google Acc ount to become y our friend in Google T alk, so y ou can chat with each other and view each others’ online status. In the Friends list, pr ess MENU and then tap Add friend .
90 Email Email Using Gmail/ Google Mail Gmail/ Google Mail is Google’s w eb-based email service. Gmail/ Google Mail is configur ed when you firs t set up y our phone. Depending on your s ynchronization settings, Gmail/ Google Mail on your phone is aut omatically synchroniz ed with one or more Gmail/ Google Mail accounts on the w eb.
91 Email Swit ching to another Google A cc ount If y ou hav e set up mor e than one Google A cc ount on your phone, y ou can switch between ac counts in Gmail/ Google Mail. T o find out how t o set up se v eral Google Ac counts, see “ Adding mor e Google Acc ounts” in the Acc ounts and sync chapter .
92 Email T ap Delete t o delete the con v ersation from y our Google Acc ount. If you delete the c onv ersation accidentally , y ou can tap Undo in the y ellow bar at the top of the scr een to undelete it. T ap Older to see the pr evious c onv ersation in y our Inbox.

Select the priority for the message . If y ou selected High or Lo w priority , the priority appears below the subject line of the message.
