Control panel features 1 On : Turns the product on or off. When the product is off, a minimal am ount of power is still used. To completely remove power, turn off the product, then unplug the power cord. 2 Cancel : Stops the curre nt operation. 3 Start Copy Black : Starts a black-a nd-white copy job.

5. Select th e approp riate optio ns for your print j ob by using the features a vailable in the Advanced , Printing Shortcuts , Features , and Co lor tabs . TIP: You can easi ly select the appr opriate options for your print job by choosing one of the pred efined print task s on the Printing Shortcuts tab.
7. In the Resi zing Options area, click the appropri ate paper size from the Size list. If the paper size and paper type are not comp atible, the product softw are displa ys an alert and allow s you to select a dif ferent type or size.
8. In the Pa per Type drop-down list, click More , and then select the appropriate paper type. NOTE: You cannot p rint a borderl ess image if the paper type is set to Plain paper or to a type of pa per other than a photo paper. 9. Select the Borde rless pr inting check box if it is not already checked.
5. Open the Printer Properties dialog box. 6. Click the Features tab, and then select the f ollowing print setti ngs: • Paper Type : Plain paper • Size : An appropria te envelope size 7. Select any other prin t settings that you want, and then click OK .

View the print resolution The printer softw are displays the print resoluti on in dots per inch (dpi). The dpi varies according to the pap er type and print qua lity that you select i n the printer software. To view th e print resolu tion 1. Make sure you have paper loaded i n the input tray.
5. In the Printing Shortcuts list, click a pr in ting shortcut. The print settings for the selected printing shortc ut are disp layed. 6. Change the print setti ngs to thos e you want i n the new prin ting shor tcut. 7. Click Save as and type a name for the new printing short cut, and then click Save .

Find the cartr idge number 1. In the H P Solutio n Center, cli ck Set tings , point to Print Settings , and th en click Printer Tool box . NOTE: You can also open t he Printer Toolbox from the Print P ropertie s dial og box. In the Prin t Properties dialog box , click the Features tab, and then click the Printer Services button.
CAUTION: Clean print cartridges only when necessary. Unne cessary cleaning wastes ink and shorte ns the life of the cartridge. To clean the print c artridges 1. In the HP Solution Center, click Settings . In the Print Settings area, click Printer Toolbox .

Placing a call Call HP support whi le you are in front of the computer and the produ ct. Be prepared to provide t he follow ing info rmation: • Product name (HP De skjet F2400 Al l-in-One series) .

• Test the pow er outlet to make sure it is workin g. Plug in a n applianc e that you know works, and see i f the appliance has power. If n ot, then there might be a problem with t he power outlet. • If you plugg ed the product into a switched outle t, make su re the outlet is switch ed on.
Cause: You sent the print job to the default prin ter, but this product wa s not the default printe r. If this di d not s olve the issue, try the next solu tion. Step 3: Check the c onnection between the produ ct and computer Solution: Check the conn ection between the product and computer.
6. Insert the product CD -ROM into your compute r’s CD-ROM drive and then start t h e Setup program. NOTE: If the Setup program d oes not appear, locate the setup. exe file on the CD-ROM dri ve and doubl e-click it. Step 2: Load the stack of p aper correctly Solution: Remove the stack of paper from the input tray, reload the paper, and then slide the pa per width guide i nward until it stops at th e edge of the p aper. For more information, see: “ Load med ia” on page 23 Cause: The paper guides were not positioned co rrectly.
Check printer settings Try the foll owing so lutions. • Step 1: Check the pri nt settings • Step 2: Veri fy the pa per size setti ng • Step 3: Check the pri nter margins Step 1: Check the p rint settings Solution: Check the print settings. • Check the print settings to see if the color setti n gs are inco rrect.
Make sure the margin se ttings for the document do not exceed the printable area of the product. To check you r margin setti ngs 1. Preview your pr int job befo re sending it to the pr oduct. In most software a pplications, click the File menu, and then click Print Preview .

Flashi ng lights The lights on the product fla sh in special sequences to inform you about various error conditions. Refer to the followin g table for informati on on solving your error con dition based on whic h lights are on or fla s hing on th e product.
