Load Tray 1 Intr oduction The followi ng informa tion describ es how to load pap er in Tray 1.This tray holds up to 1 00 sheets of 75 g/m 2 (20 lb) paper. CAUTION: To avo id jams , neve r add o r rem ove pa per fr om Tra y 1 duri ng pri nting . 1. Grasp the handle on either side of Tray 1, and pull it forward to open it.
3. Load paper in the tray. For information about how to orient the paper, se e Tray 1 paper orientation on pa ge 26 . 4. Make sure that the paper fits under the fill line on the paper guides. NOTE: The maximum stac k height is 10 mm (0.4 in), or approximately 100 sheets of 75g paper.
Tray 1 paper or ientation If a dup lexer is insta lled, o r if a stapler /stacker is instal led, the pr oduct alte rs the way the i mages for ea ch page a re arrang ed. When usi ng paper th at requir es a spec ific orientation, load it acc ording to the information in the following tab le.
Load Tray 2 and the 500-sheet trays Intr oduction The followi ng informa tion describ es how to load pap er in Tray 2 and the optional 50 0-sheet trays (part number F2G 68A). These trays hold up to 500 sh eets of 75 g/m 2 (20 lb) pa per. NOTE: The procedure to load paper for the 500-sheet trays is the s ame as for T ray 2.
3. Adjust the paper-length guide b y squeezing the adjustment latch and sliding the guide to the size of the paper being used. 2 4. Load pape r into the tray.
6. The tray configuration message displays on the product control panel. 7. If the paper siz e and type shown is not correct, select Mod ify to choose a different paper size or type. For custom-size paper, specify t he X and Y dimensions for the paper when the prompt displays on the pr oduct control panel.
Load th e option al 1,500 -shee t high-cap acit y tray Intr oduction The followin g informa tion describes how to load pap er in the option al 1,500 sheet hig h-capacity tray (part number F2G 73A). This tray adjus ts for Le tter, A4, a nd Leg al sizes.
3. Load the paper into the tray. To prevent jams, load com plete reams at one time. Do not di vide ream s into sma ller se ctions. 4. Make sure that the paper does not exceed the fill marks on the paper guide s, and that the front edge of the stack is aligned with the a rrows.
Load the opti onal custom medi a tray Intr oduction The followin g information describes configuring the pr oduct to use the optional custom media tray (part number F2G 75A) and loa ding pap er into this tra y.
Load paper into th e cust om me dia t ray 1. Open the tray. 2. Open the paper-width guides at the side of the tray. 3. Open the paper-length g uide at the rear of t he tray.
4. Load pape r into the tray. Check the pa per to verify the guides lightly touch the stack, but do not bend it. F or information about how to orient the paper, see Custom media tray paper orientation on page 34 .
Load envelopes Intr oduction The followin g information d escribes how to load envelopes. Use only Tray 1 or th e optional enve lope feeder (part number F2G74A) to pr int on env elopes. Tray 1 holds up to 10 envelop es. The optiona l envel ope feeder holds up to 7 5 envelope s.
Envelope or ientation 1. In Tray 1, load envelopes with the front of the envelope facing up, and the short, postage-edge l eading into the product. 2. In the optional envelope feeder, lift the pressure pl ate, and load envelopes with the front of the envelope facing up, a nd the s hort, postag e-edge lead ing into th e product.

2. Grasp the handle of the used toner cartridge and pull out to remo ve it. 3. Remove the new toner cartridge from its protective bag. Save all p ackaging for rec ycling t he used toner car tridge. 4. Hold both ends of the toner cartridge and rock it 5- 6 times.
5. Remove the protective shield from the toner cartridge. 6. Pull on the orang e tab to remove the toner sealing tape. Completel y remove the sealing tape from the cartridg e. 7. Align th e toner cartrid ge with its sl ot, and then inse rt the toner cartrid ge into the product.
8. Close the top cover. 9. Pack the used toner car tridge, the protecti ve shield, and the sealin g tape in to the box th at the n ew cartr idge came in. In the U.S. and Canada, a pre-paid shipping label is incl uded in the box. In o ther countries/regions, go to www.
Replace the staple cartridge Intr oduction If the stapler runs out of staples, jobs continue to print to the stapler/stacker, but they are not stapled.

Print tasks (W indows) How to print ( Window s) The fol lowing proced ure de scribes the basic prin ting process for Window s. 1. From the software program, select the Print option. 2. Select the product from the li st of printe rs. To change settings, click or tap the Properties or Preferences button to open the print driver.
4. Cl ic k or t ap the OK button to return to the Print dialog box. Select the number of copies to pr int from this scr een. 5. Cl ic k or t ap the OK button to print the job.
Automatica lly print on both sides (Windows) Use this pr ocedure for products tha t have an automatic duplexer in stalled. I f the pr oduct does n ot have a n automatic duplexer installed, or to print on paper type s that the dupl exer does no t support, you ca n print on both sides manuall y.
Print multiple pa ges per sh eet (Windows) 1. From the software program, select the Print option. 2. Select the product from the list of printers, and then click or tap the P roperties or Preferences button to open the print driver. Print tasks (OS X) How to print ( OS X) The followin g procedure describes the basic printing p rocess for OS X . 1. Cl ic k th e File menu, and then cl ick the Pri nt option. 2. Sel ect the product . 3. Cl ic k Show Details , and the n select other menus to adjust the print settings.
