You ca n also gain access to the file by followi ng these ste ps: 1. Insert the software CD into the C D-ROM drive. 2. Navigate to the Ma nuals<lan guage> folder. 3. Open the file that has the approp riate file name : CP40 25_U SE_XXWW .PDF CP45 25_U SE_XXWW .

When you have the fil e open, you can click File an d then cl ick Save A s to save a c opy of the f ile to another location. 2 Windows software description Introducti on The HP C olor Lase rJet Enterpr ise CP4020- CP4520 Seri es product com es with software and install ers for Microsoft Wi ndows an d Apple Com puter, Inc., M acintosh sys tems. Linux and UNIX systems ar e suppor ted, and software is avail able on the Web.

Print Drivers. If y ou are using an HP prin t driver i n a Windows e nvironment, follow these steps to find driv er-v ersion in forma tion : 1. In Windows Vista and Wind ows 7, click th e Start bu tton, click Control Panel , clic k Har dwa re an d Sound , and then click Pr inters .
Driver co nfiguration for Windows The HP p rint drivers fe ature bidire ctional co mmunica tion technolog y which, in sup ported envir onments, provi de automatic di scovery and dr iver confi guration for prod uct access ories at the tim e of installatio n.
If bi directional communica tion softw are has not been inst alled, EA C installs bidirection al-commun ication softwar e that allows it to c ommunicate wit h the product an d automaticall y match the print dr iver with the actual pr oduct configur ation.

Plugin a dds a numbe r of scre ens to the ex isting queu e-creation workflow f rom whi ch the drive rs that are being inst alled for the queues c an be cu stomized as part of th e process. The plug- in is limited to I nternet Explorer brow sers. Netsca pe Navigator is not supported.
Continuous export The term "c ontinuous ex port" refers to th e ability o f the print drive r to copy the lates t print-driver setti ngs back to the wor king copy of the preconfi guration file.

HP Driver Deplo yment Utility The HP Driver Deploy ment Utility (HP DDU) was created to s implify the deployment of print driv ers onto a cli ent comput er. It is a simple uti lity that packages the print er-driver f iles, and the code needed to deploy them, into 2 files: an .
● Microsoft Wi ndows Vista ( 64-bit) ● Microsoft Wi ndows 7 Install and run the HP DDU Install the HP DD U Copy th e files to th e administrative computer. If u sing the se lf-extracting .EXE file, just copy it to th e adminis trative c omputer, then double cli ck – it wi ll expand t he files into the proper directory s tructure.

Install Type — Silently preload the dr iver is th e option to sel ect for users that w ill be using a d irect connec tion, like a USB cable . A future P lug and Play event will be nec essary to install th e print driver, but all the files w ill be i nstalled in the Windows driver sto re by this package for future us e.
admini strator is res ponsible for identifying th e product u sing either the co rrect IP addr ess, the Hard ware addres s, or the Hostname. ● IP Address — enter the IPv4 or IPv6 addr ess of the product. ● Hard ware A ddre ss — enter the hardware address of the product.

General Micr osoft Windows inst allation instructions These are instruction s for installin g the print drive rs on various Windows ope rating syste ms. Insta llation is s imilar f or the Win dows XP, Windows Server 200 3, Windows Ser ver 2008, Win dows Vist a, and Windo ws 7 operating systems.
Use an existin g port for a direct co nnecti on Perfor m the following when the produc t is connected to the comp uter using a USB ca ble or when printing via the netw ork wit hout usin g a prin t ser ver: 1. On the Start menu, click the Setting s option , and then Windows XP Home : Clic k the Printers and Other Ha rdware Devic es option.
5. If the pro duct is co nnected to the compute r using a USB cable or is conn ected via t he network without us ing a print server a nd the prin ter port alr eady exis ts, select the Use the followin.
6. (Option al) Clic k the Windows Update button to display a list of dri vers that can be d ownloaded from the Micros oft Windows Update Web site. If the approp riate mode l of HP Color Laser Jet Enterp rise CP4020- CP4520 Serie s is already liste d, select it and click th e Next > button.
10. Select the approp riate model of HP Col or LaserJet En terprise CP4020 -CP4520 Se ries from the list and clic k the Next > button to continue to the Name Your Pr inter scre en.
11. You can eithe r type a na me for the p roduct in t he Print er na me text box or u se the defau lt name provide d. Select the Yes opt ion to us e this p rinter as the default prin ter or sel ect the No opti on to keep the existing product as the default pri nter.
12. S elect eith er the Do not share this printer option , or selec t the Share nam e: option an d type share na me, and th en clic k the Next > b utton to cont inue to the Print T est Page screen . NOTE: For more informa tion, se e Point and Pr int installati on for Wind ows on page 76 .
13. Select t he Yes opt ion if you want to print a tes t page after the software i s installed. S elect the No option if y ou do not wan t to print a test page after the s oftware is installed. Click the N ext > button to continue to the Com pleti ng the Add Pri nter Wi zard scre en.
4. If the pro duct is co nnected to the compute r using a USB cable, or is con nected via the network without usin g a print server, select the L ocal printer at tached to th is computer opt ion, and then click t he Next > button.

7. Type th e product's IP addres s or hos t name in th e Printer Name or IP Address text box, and then click t he Next button. NOTE: The default port name is th e name that y ou typed in the Printer Name or IP Address text box. Y ou can chan ge this n ame by typi ng a new nam e in the Port Name te xt b ox.
4. If the product is co nnected v ia the networ k using a print ser ver, select the A network pr inter, or a printer at tached to anot her computer opti on, and th en click t he Next > button.
5. Select eith er the Find a pr inter in the direc tory option, the Connect to this printer (or t o browse for a printer, selec t this option and click Ne xt) option, or the Conne ct to a printer on the Internet or on a home or office network option, and then click the Ne xt > button.
Select one of t he following optio ns: a. ( Find a pr inte r in the d ire ctory option only ) Specify s earch attribu tes to find y our product on the netw ork, and then c lick the Find Now button to search t he spec ified locati on for yo ur produc t.
b. ( Connect to this printer (or to br owse for a printe r, select this opt ion and click Nex t) option only) Specify the print path for the pro duct and then click the N ext > button.
Install the driver using down loaded files and the HP Driv er Installation Utility (HPDIU) Follo w these ins truction s if you do wnloaded th e driver from the Web that is compat ible with the HPDIU instal lation. This drive r uses the HPDIU to install the driv er on network co mputers.

6. A list of HP Color La serJet En terprise CP4 020-CP45 20 Series produ cts is display ed. Select the product y ou want to install and c lick the OK button to cont inue to the De vice Connectio n scre en.
7. The network s ettings (Host Name, IP Address, and Hardware Address) fo r the product a re displaye d. Click the Install button. Once the softw are is inst alled, you will conti nue to the Driver Installation Complete screen .
8. If you selec ted the Con nected direc tly to the compu ter in stallation m ethod, the following s creen will appear at the conclusion of the softwa re installati on: Figure 3-22 Software Ins tallat.

In a n effort to i ncrease op erating s ystem stab ility, Micro soft determi ned that i n Windows 2000 and all future operating systems, print dri vers would r un as use r -mode proces ses. User-mo de drivers ru n in a protec ted part of the operating system, as do all of the normal end -user proce sses and software progr ams.

The HP EasyColor opti on is enabled by defaul t in the HP PCL 6 pr inter driver , so you d o not need to make m anual co lor adjust ments. To disable t he opti on so you c an manua lly adj ust the co lor se ttings, open the Color tab, and click the HP E asyColor check box to clear it.

HP Printer Uti lity f or Mac The HP Printer Util ity is a s oftware pro gram that gives you access to the produc t in Mac O S X. The HP Prin ter Utility does not work when it is inst alled by using the App leTalk protocol. Use IP, Bonjour or Rendez vous to enable the HP Printe r Utility.

Remote firmwa re u pdate The HP Color Las erJet Enterpr ise CP4020 -CP4520 Se ries p roduct featu res remo te firmware update (RFU) capability. The metho d for downloading remote firmware updates from the Web site is similar to that use d to downl oad the lates t printing- system softw are and pr int drive rs.
NOT E: If the firm ware update involv es a change in the format of nonvol atile random- access mem ory (NVRA M), any menu sett ings that are change d from the default settin gs will return to defa ult settings. The setti ngs must be changed again if you want them to be di fferent from the defaults.
