1 Use your HP Bluetooth Adapter for printing The HP Bluetoot h Adapter wireless pri nter adapter uses Bluetooth wirele ss technology to allow you to print without using a cable. In ge neral, Bluetoo th wireless techn ology is a short-range wire less technol ogy that allows co nnection between devic es without requiring a cable.

Follow these instru ctions to print from t he imaging or camera software. 1. From the i maging appli cation, se lect Send vi a Bluetooth . 2. The phone searches fo r Bluetooth devices. Select the printer you want to use. 3. If you are promp ted for a Passkey, en ter it.
NOTE: If your computer does n ot support either of thes e methods, consult your computer documentat ion for help printing with Bluetooth. This procedure is for the H P or Widcomm stack. 1. Click the My Blue tooth Places icon on your desktop or in the Task Ba r.

Install the softwar e 1. Insert the CD. The Configurati on Wizard should start au tomatically. If i t does not, brow se to your CD and double-click setup.exe . 2. Follow the instru ctions on the screen. 3. Plug in the HP Bl uetooth Adap ter when request ed.
• Access My Bluetoo th Places : Double-cli ck the Bluetooth icon, or right-cli ck the Bluetooth icon an d then select Expl ore My Bluetooth Places . • Access the Bluetooth Setup Wizard : Right-cl .
Device Icons Devices are physical things, su ch as computers, cameras, headsets, etc. Devices can be represented by icon s in My Bluetooth Places. Each type of device is re presented by a diff erent icon. The device icons have three states as described below : Normal : Devices that are present in the vicinity are represented by a plain icon.
NOTE: A service may be unavailable because it (or the re quired hardware) is in use, or because th e required har dware is not installed. Exampl e: if t he fax mo dem is bu sy, or not installed, then the fax service will be unavailable, even though Bluetooth supports that service.
Basic operations This section provide s informat ion on using the basic Bluetoot h functions. Start or stop Bluetooth To start Blueto oth : In the notification area, at the far right of the taskbar, right-click the Bluetooth icon and select Start the Blu etooth Device .
Create a connection fro m My Bluetooth Plac es 1. From Windows Explorer , in the Folders pane, select My Bluetoot h Places , and then select View devi ces in range . 2. In the right pane of M y Bluetooth Places, right-click a device name, and then select Connect .
using a fax modem th at is physically at tached to this comput er, then this comput er is providing the Bluetooth fax servi ce. Some services are hardware dep endant; for examp le, this computer ca nnot provide the fax service unless it has a physical fax modem.
▲ To access the Connection Stat us dialog box, in My Bluetoot h Places, select a device , and then, in the rig ht pane of My Bluetoo th Places, right-click a service name and select Status from the shortcut menu. The Informat ion provided is as fo llows: • Status : Connect ed or Not Connect ed.
To use Send to Bluetooth (except Internet Explor er) 1. Select the item to t ransfer as listed below: • Windows Explorer: Se lect one or more files to be transfe rred. Folders cannot be transfer red. • Microsoft Office: Only the document in the active win dow can be transferred.
How this computer uses a service that is pr o vided by a remote device i s configured on the Client Applica tions tab of t he Bluetooth con figuration pa nel. Bluetoot h exchange folder This is the highest-l evel directory on this comput er to which a remote Bluetooth device has access.
1. Open the config uration panel usin g one of t hese methods. • In the Notif ication area, at the f ar right of the t askbar, right-click t he Bluetooth ic on and select Advanced Configuration from the sho rtcut menu or • From Windows Cont rol Panel, select Bluetooth Configur ation .
To configure Bluetooth imaging ▲ On the Client Appl ications tab, select Bluetoot h Imaging and click the Properties button. The Properties dial og allows you t o configu re the follow ing: • The applicat ion name: To chan ge it, highlight the existing name and ent er the new name.
▲ Open a connection to a Bluetooth Human Interface Device using o ne of these techniques: • From My Bluetooth Places • Using the Blue tooth Setup Wizard • Once a HID connect ion is established, that connection will pe rsist. If the computer is shut down, when the comput er is turned on aga in the connection will reest ablish automatically.

NOTE: Most Bluetooth h eadsets ring when a connecti on is attempted; answer the ring to complete the connect ion and begin using the headset as the audio input/ output device for this computer.
The data item types th at can be synchronized are: Business cards • Calendar item s • E-mail (with or with out attachments-see below) • Notes Possible synchronizat ion options for each of these data it em types include: • Do Not Synchronize : This item type will not be synch ronized.
To configure faxi ng ▲ On the Client Applications tab, select Fax and click the Properties button. The Properties dial og allows you to conf igure the followi ng: • The applicatio n name: To change it, highlight the existing name and enter the new name.
To configure file transfer ▲ On the Client Ap plications tab, select File Transfer and click the Propertie s button. The Properties dial og allows you t o configu re the follow ing: • The applicat ion name: To chan ge it, highlight the existing name and ent er the new name.
• How your busin ess card is handled wh en it is requ ested by a remote device: The Send My Busine ss Card opti ons are: • Choose a business card as need ed: Each time a remot e device requests your business card you must sele ct a card fr om your PIM.
Configure Dial-up Networki ng ▲ On the Client Appl ications tab, select Dial-up Networking and click the Properti es button. The Properties dial og allows you t o configu re the follow ing: • The applicat ion name: To chan ge it, highlight the existing name and ent er the new name.
Create a Blueto oth Serial Po rt Connectio n Establish a connect ion using one of these techniques: • Notifica tion area , at the fa r right of the taskba r, Blueto oth icon • From My Bluetoot h P.
• Service Name: The defau lt name of each service can be changed. • Secure Connection : Requires that remo te devices provide proo f of identit y and that all data be en crypted. • Startup Automatical ly: Starts the service automatically when Bluetooth is started.

Bluetooth Se rial Port The Bluetooth Serial Port service enables a remot e Bluetooth devi ce to establish a wireless serial connection with th is computer. The wireless serial conn ection may be used by applications a s though a physical se rial cable connect ed the devices.
• Select the physical modem to be used from the Modems - shortcut menu. • Set the common confi guration properties of the service, and then cli ck OK. Fax Service The Fax service allows a rem ote Bluetooth devi ce to send a Fax via a mode m that is physically attached to this computer.
• Send To • 3 ½ floppy (A) - sends the selected file to the 3 ½ inch fl oppy drive on this computer • Public Folder on My Device: Sen ds the selected file to the Pu blic Folder on this computer. • Rename: Applies only to emp ty folders; file names and th e names of folders th at contain objects cann ot be changed using this techni que.
The Headset Service now mon itors the phone and displays a not ification bal loon over the Bluetooth ico n in the Notifi cation area, at the far right of t he taskbar when an incoming call is detected. 2. Click the balloon to acknowledge the notifi cation, and then, in the Incoming Call dial og box, click the Accept butt on to accept the call.

NOTE: PIMs that are not in stalled on this comp uter will not ap pear in the shortcut menus. When the PIM th at is associated with an indivi dual data type is changed on the PIM Item Transfer page, tha t data type is also chan ged for the PIM Synch ronization service.
Change the Se lected PIM On the PIM Item Transfer properties page, R eceived items section, t here is a Business Cards shortcut menu . When a PIM was sel ected during in itial setup th e selected item in this menu was set to the same PI M. To change the PIM used f or the default busi ness card, open this shortcut menu and select a new PIM.
Hardware settings The Hardware tab of the Bluet ooth Configura tion Panel provide s basic informati on about the Bluetooth hardware install ed on this computer and access to the Ad vanced Settings dialog box, if required: • Devices: • Name: The name of t he device, e.
Click Apply to impl ement the changes. A di alog box is disp layed with notif ication that the Bluetooth device atta ched to this computer must b e reset before the change (s) will take effect. Click Yes to rese t the Bluetooth de vice now. All open Bl uetooth connect ions will be closed.
To delete a device from t he list: ▲ In the list of devices allowed to access th is computer, select the device to be removed from the list , and then click Dele te.
Temporarily Override the Dis covery of Specifi c Devices In the Bluetoo th Configurat ion Panel, from the Discovery tab, select Report a ll Bluetooth devices. The specifically selected devices will be discovered along w ith all other devices. To re-enable specific device disco very, re-select Report Only Selected Bluetooth Devices.
NOTE: The devices must be paired. 1. From My Bluetooth Pla ces, right-cli ck a paired devi ce, select Properties, and then the Authorizatio n tab. 2. Select the services in the li st box for which Authori zation will N OT be required, and then click OK.
If there are no dupl icate files, the Autho rization balloo n is displayed on t he server immediately. To Pair with Another Device 1. If Secure Connection i s enabled, the first time two devices at tempt to connect, a prompt to pair t he devices is displayed.

3 Troubleshooting TIP: Many issues you do not f ind mentioned here may be resolved by u nplugging the adapter, turn ing the printer or comput er off, then on, an d plugging the a dapter back in.
